Hello, again!

I finished recording Chapter 26 and ran it through Checker. I hope it's OK. I struggled initially to increase my volume, but thankfully I did get it to pass after messing around with amplify and the wave envelope. Was terrified the whole time that I'd mess everything up.

Looking forward to your response.

MW updated, will have a listen soon. If you have trouble with the volume and Checker, here are some tips that should fix it for you automatically.
Female Scripture Characters by William Jay (1769 - 1853) 97% 1 left! "The Penitent Sinner Part 2"
St. Augustine (Vol.6 Psalms 126-150) 96% 2 left!

Thank you for the tips! I’m sure I’ll need to play around a bit to club everything into submission.

I've had a listen - the reading was great, no issues at all. Just the sudden and radical drop in volume at 2:40 is an issue. I can fix it for you but it might be good for you to learn how you'd do it yourself. The easiest way would be to select the section from the start until 2:40, use the Amplify effect set to -11 to bring it to the same level as the rest and then use the 3 effects in the post above. If you prefer only to use one, Loudness Normalization set to -19 will do the job once you've evened up the levels.

Could I take section 65, the Confession of Dositheus?
Also the link in the magic window is accidentally to The Confession of Pseudo-Cyril instead of the Confession of Dositheus. The Confession of Dositheus is pages 123-187 (or -194 to include the signatures.)

Welcome to LV!

It would be great to have you record the Confession of Dositheus. We'd just need you to do your recording test so that your technical specs are all ok. The most likely issue that you'll have is noise recution and the overall volume (which is best measured using the ReplayGain audacity plugin).

Good catch about section 65. I've updated the link!

Thank you for the feedback! Glad to hear the reading was OK. :) For the corrected upload, I set amplify to -11 for the first section and followed the suggested settings for the normalize, compressor, and loudness normalisation effects for the whole track. Much improved. The first section up to 2:40 is a little louder, but the drop-off is now mild. I think I know how to avoid this in the future.

I added "2" after various to distinguish it from the first upload. I wanted to change the name from the original in case something went awry with my newbie editing efforts.

Hello,

I would like to claim Chapter 52, The Arminian Articles, A.D. 1610. May work up to a few longer pieces in time!

Hi Tara, getting better! I still think the drop is a bit big. Do you wanna use the amplify tool on that first section again so that the waveform looks consistent with the rest of it? On your original file, you could select the soft part instead and amplify by 18 and then do loudness normalization (or all 3 of the effects I mentioned). Immediately after the first section of the recording, I noticed the click of the mous where you stopped recording. You can choose to select that little bit and delete it if you like. Don't feel discouraged - this process will become second nature to you at some point!

You can upload to the same filename as the original - the upload is non-destructive so the old version will still be accessible , it just gets shifted to a different filename.

I'll put you down for The Arminian Articles. Keep at it!

Thanks for the encouragement! I am soldiering onward. Played around a bit, and I think I evened it out. Fingers crossed. Also replaced the mouse click with silence, I think.

I shaved a second off the new recording at the problematic point. It's now:

14:11

Very happy to hear the system keeps a copy of each upload. Makes experimenting far less scary!
