Guess who's back 8-)

I'm not going to read this one in its entirety, but it's a classic so the first chapter is a must in our catalogue. The text is full of archaic words and syntax, so reading it was like navigating a linguistic minefield, and it probably shows in my reading speed

Title: Stara Baśń
Duration: 27:20
Józef Ignacy Kraszewski (1812-1887)
Publication date: 1876
Source text: https://pl.wikisource.org/wiki/Stara_ba%C5%9B%C5%84/ca%C5%82o%C5%9B%C4%87 (incl. scans)
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/fcc009_starabasn_pn81_128kb.mp3

By the way, while Józef Ignacy Kraszewski is a new author in our catalogue, he was an astoundingly prolific writer, with over 230 novels to his name (or pen names) not to mention non-fiction and poetry

Btw. note that we already have the similarly-named Ignacy Krasicki in our catalogue, so don't let that mislead you :)

Nah, I'll pass

Btw. Hope you don't me suggesting something, but I think it would be a good idea to put "Multilingual" in the title line of the thread, so the folks, especially those newer to the forums, know that it's not just for English-language works. I know there's a line about it in the first post, but I think it would be more visible this way.

Stara Baśń

The volume is too low at 83.7dB.
No other issues that I could tell

Fixed and re-uploaded. Btw. I've noticed that this time there are three digits in the file numbering scheme. You've grown more optimistic :)

I don't see anything about limits-per-person so expect a second piece shortly ;)

By the way, the translator's name for this one is not given so I just said 'translated by anonymous". Is that OK?

That’s fine.
In collections, we can only give one credit, so the author is sufficient... although crediting the translator in the intro is probably good practice.

Here it is:

This time a translation from Polish:

A Flight from Siberia
Author: Wacław Sieroszewski 1858-1945
Publication date: 1909
Translator: anonymous
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/fcc009_flightfromsiberia_pn81_128kb.mp3 17:34
Source: https://archive.org/details/flightfromsiberi00sierrich/page/n7/mode/2up

I couldn't make up my mind where to stick the footnote, so I decided to read it at the end. The fragment it pertains to is located towards the end anyway.

Also, the author was quite the character! An anti-tsarist activist banished to Siberia, made a name for himself as an etnographer describing local indigenous tribes, and later also the people of Japan and Korea.
