I'm waiting on some clarification for something I was confused about regarding things I need to fix with my recording, but I wasn't sure if I still needed to submit my original recording here with its new name. So, the below is my original recording, renamed, with no edits done yet!

Hi Kayty! It seems the original PM is behaving strangely. I'm sorry the info wasn't getting to you. Thanks for messenging me about that!
Here is the PL Note:

Your recording is terrific! You're going to be good asset for LibriVox.

Just about every one of us has to train ourself to slow our reading down. When a listener is not also following the text, it takes the human brain longer to process the information, and stories run together on themselves.

This file would benefit from tempo editing. If you're using Audacity (the only software I'm familiar with), it's a very easy edit:
  • Open the recording
  • Click Control-A to select the entire track
  • From the Effects drop-down menu, select Change Tempo (don't use Change Speed - that affects the pitch of your voice; Tempo does not)
  • Type -8 in the top box (ignore everything else)
  • Click OK
Notice that the audio waves expanded and the track got longer.

Now you can re-export the file to mp3 and upload the new file the same way you did the other time.

Don't forget to post again, noting the new time stamp of the file's length. :)

Hi, Colleen :)

The Meeting of the Star Lovers is PL OK

No need to edit this file, but moving forward, make sure the ending silence doesn't stretch past 5 seconds. :) (This one is a full 6)

Love your Japanese contributions! They're all new for me.

Thank you so much for clearing that up for me! I'm definitely a very fast reader naturally so it's something I hope to be able to improve (and slow down) on as I record more. :) Thanks for the critique. I applied the Tempo change and have reuploaded the file.

Super! Plants of Water Nymphs and Fays is PL OK now

I was a total speed demon recorder when I first started!

Thanks so much for your contribution, and for being a good sport with the crossover between collections - hope to run into you again here in LibriVox

Hi, MaryAnn :)

We will need Richard Folkard added to the author list

He's not in Wikipedia, and I can't find any links that have his birth/death info. Here he and this book are on Hathitrust: Plant lore, legends, and lyries. Embracing the myths, traditions, superstitions, and folk-lore of the plant kingdom. By Richard Folkard, jun.

Hello, Julie! Welcome to LibriVox!

Your story is loaded into the Magic Window and queued for PL.

Here is your personal Reader Page: Julie Johnson.

You'll see that it lists all the projects you are a part of, both complete and in-progress. It also has a link to the lists of all the sections that are assigned to you for recording and/or prooflistening. Very handy!

Hello, I have found a version of the Russian folktale Ivan Tsarevich online that I'd like to read. The source does not give the name of a book. It says:
"Some fairy tales that we've placed here are written by Russian writers and poets, but they have since long ago been so deeply grown together with our Russian soul that can be considered folklore."

Shall I just give the name of the website? I just want to be sure. Thanks.

Hi, G!

Sorry I didn't answer yesterday. We were hurrying to get a bunch of repairs done on the house while we had a warm enough day.

About your story - can you post the link to your source? We do have to make sure the source is absolutely Public Domain compliant. LibriVox does not have the resources to legally defend against copyright cases, so sources have to be foolproof.

If your source is not usable for LibriVox, I wonder if any of these sources contain the story as you like it?

No worries at all Lynette. Where are you located?

https://stpetersburg-guide.com/folk/

I can use those other sources, i just liked this one the best. It’s easier to read and more understandable by children.

Oh, looking at the source, it's based on a commercial site that LibriVox cannot let us use. :( That's too bad, since you note the nice level for children.

We are near the Air Force Academy. Are you also in Colorado?

I'm in Georgia, US.

Interesting since it is a long standing Russian legend. I'll take another look at the sources on Guttenberg.

Thanks for your quick reply.
