And thank you very much for this terrific addition to our collection!
There is only one minor change I would recommend if you feel like doing it: I would recommend editing the tempo.
The human brain can't process auditory input of a reading as quickly as it does when we're also visually reading the material. The vast majority of us start out reading a little faster than is comfortable for the average listener. But it's EASY to fix a recording without redoing anything!
Are you using Audacity, by chance? If so, here's how you would do that:
- Open the recording
- Click Control-A to select the entire track
- From the Effects drop-down menu, select Change Tempo (don't use Change Speed - that affects the pitch of your voice; Tempo does not)
- Type -10 in the top box (ignore everything else)
- Click OK
Now you can re-export the file to mp3 and upload the new file the same way you did the first time.
Don't forget to post again, noting the new time stamp of the file's length.
-- Or, if you don't want to try that effect out on your story, just let me know, and I'll mark your section OK

Thank you so much for the compliment and feedback on my recording, I am new to Librivox, this is only my third recording
I have applied the -10 tempo effect which you recommended and I agree it sounds much better, I will definitely try to watch my pacing on my next recordings
It is approximately 2:10 long now with the new tempo

I have both of your stories loaded into the Magic Window, and they're queued for prooflistening.
I can't officially assign them to your name until we have a reader page for you. This is the page that the public sees when they're looking at the Catalog of published audiobooks.
What name would you like us to enter for that? Some of us use our real names, others use their forum name (like your "mariraz"), and others make up a different pen name.
Just let me know what we should enter for yours, and I'll get it made. You can also give us a URL for a personal web page if you want that linked on your Catalog Reader Page.

Whoa! That's a pretty harsh cautionary tale! Folk lore and fairy tales are not for the faint of heart, eh?LKnight wrote: ↑April 1st, 2021, 2:12 pm Did a reading of an Australian myth since I didn't see any that were recorded.

Very nicely read, and this is PL OK off the bat.
Thanks so much for the contribution - it takes me a while to do the editing on my recordings, too. I still really enjoy doing it. My only feedback would be to perhaps use a little lower level of Noise Reduction on future files. A little too much of that, and our voices start sounding tinny (you have a wee bit of that happening here, but nothing that needs to be changed at all). Way too much Noise Reduction creates these really funky space monkeys that make crazy game noises on top of our reading. You definitely do not have any of that going on here.
Hope to see you around in LibriVox again! You're a great addition.

James!!! I am profoundly sorry that I missed your post for this!! Sometimes when we're working on the boards, things get leap-frogged, and I must have forgotten to back track to make sure something hadn't come in while I was addressing the post before yours.JamesOinam wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2021, 9:47 am Hi Everyone,

Maria contacted me when you re-submitted the file at the Children's collection. I think we're going to load it into this collection since the file is named for this one, and it's uploaded to this MC's folder. I'm just waiting for the final word.
I do sincerely apologize. I'm glad you persisted with your recording!
Edited later:
Yes, James, we are going to put your recording in for this project! I've just loaded it and will PL it immediately since you've been waiting so very long.
