The Rover Vol. 01 No. 07, edited by Seba Smith (1792 - 1868) and Lawrence Labree.
"The Rover: A weekly magazine of tales, poetry and engravings, original and selected" was a magazine started in 1843 by Seba Smith and Lawrence Labree. The editors aimed at a high quality standard in their selection of short stories and poetry. Every half-year, the 26 weekly issues were also published under a bound compilation. The seventh issue features five short stories and a poem. (Sonia)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/rover02labrgoog/page/n125/mode/2up
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

oh what a sad poem, and you narrated it with quite some emotion, thank you so much :)

Only one small detail missing:

> as it's the final section of the project, you need to include the end-of-book disclaimer: "End of The Rover Volume 1 Number 07, edited by Seba Smith and Lawrence Labree."

Thanks

Here is Section 5--love conquers all! :D :
:9: ahhh how romantic. I enjoyed the story, though it was obvious as soon as this count Victor was mentioned, that Edward would turn out his son in the end  predictable story-line ;)

Just three small stumbles to cut out:

> at 1:02: (p. 110) stumble and repeat "by becoming security for a friend" – can get cut out
> at 20:10: (p. 112) stumble and repeat: "you was about to drag my aged father" – can get cut
> at 20:18: (p. 112) stumble and repeat: "I unconsciously uttered the detested words" – I hear one "the" too many here if I'm not mistaken :hmm:

And only one small note, but you need not correct this for this section. When an author censors the swear words, like "d...d", we usually don't invent a word to go in there (stay faithful to "read what the author wrote", don't edit the text). I would sort of mumble it under my breath, like one would in conversation, maybe you know how I mean, say it a bit less loud, "d..m..d". Maybe a thing to consider for future recordings. :)

Thank you for another great storytelling.
