Another possibly anonymous essay from Chambers Journal, unsigned in the original publication.

However, I have reason to believe the author is A.A. Heaven, or Amelia Ann Heaven (1834-1905). The Heaven family owned the island from the early 19th century til the early 20th century, and the whole family lived there.

I found a bibliography collecting writings about Lundy Island, and this identifies the author as "A.A. Heaven" who also wrote several other articles around the same time period as this Chambers article, all about Lundy Island:

Chambers article is on p.5 of the bibliography, other articles by "A.A. Heaven" right around it.

So I was trying to identify A.A. Heaven to get his/her dates and verify that s/he was a known author. That's when I found out about the Heaven family owning the island and living there. I found this family tree on Ancestry:

The only A.A. is Amelia Ann and her dates put her as living and an adult in the window of time that the article was published.

So, do I credit this as anonymous or take the leap to A.A. Heaven?

I'm happy to accept your research on the author, Colleen in support of A. A. Heaven. As a note in the summary, we can stay that although the printed article was unsigned, extensive research supports Amy Ann Heaven as the author.

Ashby-Sterry certainly can capture the essence of a small scene, such as the little girl and her "very large punnet of very large strawberries." "Punnet" was a new word for me! Very well read. Craig will be along to proof listen.
