Hi Michele!

I saw the previous collection on the main LV page. What a nice cover, with a sweet little Rottweiler! I can't believe I missed that theme, though it looks like it was obviously filled by other dog lovers.

This is a good theme, and I hope it attracts lots of different and unexpected contributions. I've uploaded two poems - the first has a phoenix, the second is two for the price of one with a phoenix and a roc. The author of the second is, I think, not in the LV catalogue. I've taken her dates from HathiTrust (on the left side of the page, 'view full catalog record' goes to a page with her dates). There's a little bit of biographical information on a page at the Smithsonian:
https://www.aaa.si.edu/collections/surveys/chicago/kenilworth-historical-society/anne-spicer-papers
if you click the middle tab a little way down the page that says 'biographical historical note', but I don't know that she has a wikipedia page as yet. I hope some of that helps!

Hi there :)
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/cbc30_dwarfpeople_pn81_128kb.mp3 duration 3:40
Heres a short piece called THE DWARF PEOPLE by CLARA K. BAYLISS taken from "A Treasury of Eskimo Tales"
PG link http://www.gutenberg.org/files/24569/24569-h/24569-h.htm#Page_82

The creatures described may not look like some fanciful monsters, but I hope this still qualifies :)

Hello again :) I may have something more for this collection depending on the answers to the following questions:

1. How strictly are you going to enforce the 15 mins limit?
2. Is it possible to use my remaining 2 slots by submitting a longer piece divided into 2?
3. Do you only accept pieces that present mythical creatures as clear figment of imagination?

I have recorded a piece 34 minutes in length, which I may break into 2 if need be, examining "independent evidence for fairies", in other words, 19th century folks claming, in a matter-of-fact way, to have seen "the little people".

Yes, divide the story into Part 1 and 2, wherever seems like a logical place to divide it, give or take a few minutes. Fairies are mythical creatures. They flit about in my glade some evenings, thus I believe in them wholeheartedly. :)

Here comes Independent Evidence for Fairies by none other than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle! It's one of the chapters from his "Coming of the Fairies", a book describing Doyle's defence of the Cottingley Fairies photos. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cottingley_Fairies

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/cbc30_fairies1_pn81_128kb.mp3 duration 16:18
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/cbc30_fairies2_pn81_128kb.mp3 duration 18:12

Both parts (part 1 more so than part 2) have intermittent background noise. I decided to keep it in, because I would have to re-record the whole thing go get rid of it. If there's any stretch where you find it to be particularly problematic, let me know.

Title: Tokgabi and His Pranks, from The Korean Fairy Tales
Author: William Elliot Griffis
Source: https://archive.org/details/koreanfairytales00grif/
Recording: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/cbc30_tokgabiandhispranks_griffis_lw_128kb.mp3
Length: 07:17

A side note for the proof listener, the author translated 도깨비 to "Tokgabi" with a "t" at the beginning, but I tried to pronounce it closer to the Korean.

Independent Evidence for Fairies Parts 1 and 2, ,are both PL OK. This was a very interesting essay, well worthy of the extra few minutes. Thanks for contributing. I didn't find the wee bit of background noise in a wee few places disturbing :D

PL Notes: Tokgabi and His Pranks
Thank you Louis. Cute story, well recorded, clear audio, nice voice. I hope I spelled your name right. One note:
Intro is missing the underlined part: Title of story by author. Coffee Break Collection 30 - Mythical Creatures. This is a LibriVox recording.

Add that in and re-upload using the same file name, then post the link with its new time on this forum. Thanks
