Thanks! PL OK. I confess I listened at a faster speed.

Had to get Lilian Gish in there, did ya? ;) And I recognized one of the actors, surname started with F, towards the beginning of the recording.

Oh, and I recognized a lot of the movie titles, since their books are recorded here.

Do you have strong feelings on government publications that are recent, but public domain by virtue of being government publications?

I'm thinking some NIST standards would be perfectly zzzzz-inducing.

We'd have to vet them to be sure they're the kind of government publications that are PD (some aren't), but that should be okay for this project. :)

I was thinking about this, especially Chapter 3, which is a listing of security controls.

I've been looking into some chapters I might like to read but thought it might be nice to share the love and keep a shortlist of some real snoozefests, which are all quite technical ecological catalogues with no defined throughline to follow, no exciting or engaging language, quite peaceful themes and unsorted lists/repetitive tables of figures are always a plus:

https://www.gutenberg.org/files/24402/24402-h/24402-h.htm A descriptive catalogue of the purposes of a few hundred economic plants held by the US Department of agriculture
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/38956/38956-h/38956-h.htm A catalogue of the characteristics of many Argentinian birds
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/38959/38959-h/38959-h.htm An incredibly technical report on the habits of mice in two national parks
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/14473/14473-h/14473-h.htm A descriptive catalogue of the birds of guernsey
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/58703/58703-h/58703-h.htm A catalogue of the woody plants of Dallas county
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/32350/32350-h/32350-h.htm A catalogue of bat species around Nicaragua

https://www.gutenberg.org/files/56507/56507-h/56507-h.htm
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/56506/56506-h/56506-h.htm two very dense technical documents describing the ecological makeup of different biomes

I'll keep this list updated as I find more

Going off the government document theme, would the instructions for IRS forms qualify? I'm looking at this one published Jan 16, 2020.

It's Public Domain, but it appears to be JUST long enough for this collection depending on how fast you read. Word count from "What's New" to just before the code tables on page 47 is about 4900 words - including the rows and columns in those tables. So if you choose to do this, don't rush it, and you might end up having to read some of the business codes, especially if you skip those other tables.
