Personally I can't think of anything more boring than city council proceedings. There is a whole collection of them from the city of Ann Arbor, MI on Hathitrust covering a span of a hundred years, from 1891 to 1991.

https://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/003119036

I don't know which one in particular I'd do but as I said I think these would fit the bill.

Yes, I'd say that they probably fit the bill. :) I'd probably stick with ones 1925 or older, just to be absolutely certain they're not copyrighted.

Alrighty then, guess I'm doing one of those then. I wouldn't know how to word the disclaimer though.

"[Excerpt from the] Council proceedings for the City of Ann Arbor, July 20, [27, and August 3, 1891]. This is a LV recording..." (depending on how many you do and how much of each one)
"Council proceedings, by the Ann Arbor city council."

My suggestion. :)

Hi there, I hope you can use the following, recorded for this project (hoping the subject and 'melodious' reading would encourage sleep):

https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/ins005_sleep_myers_128kb.mp3
• Extract from Chapter 4 'Sleep' from 'Human Personality and its Survival of Bodily Death'
• Frederic William Henry Myers (1843 - 1901)
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/38492/38492-h/38492-h.htm
• 65m40s

It is one of my first recordings and I am still learning a lot about how to record and edit on audacity. I am slowly going through the manual and the Youtube tutorials but if I have made any obvious mistakes, I do appreciate advice and constructive criticism.

With Thanks,
Rachel

Thank you! Yes, this looks like a good candidate for this collection. 8-)

I'll work on listening to it either this afternoon or evening (within the next 10 hours or so).

Sleep PL OK!

From a technical standpoint, I'm not sure what to mention. The volume could have been a little higher, but it was in the acceptable range, so it's not a big deal. :)

Thanks a lot! That is encouraging. (I was imagining that I was reading to someone who was falling asleep)

If I were to recite the Golden Ratio for an hour or so, how would I introduce that?

Let's see...

"A portion of The Golden Ratio. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name]"
Say:
"The Golden Ratio. [no need for "by author" here!] 1.618..."

"End of a portion of the Golden Ratio."

Something like that? :hmm:

Tricia, in case I do find time to record another section for this collection, is there a limit for submissions per reader? I didn't see one in the first post, but may have just missed it. :hmm:

It hasn't come up. I've had 2 selections by a reader quite often. I don't recall if I've ever had 3 from one reader.
