It was published in 1971? In that case we have to be much more strict with text sources. The text needs to come from Gutenberg or HathiTrust, since they do some research into copyright renewals. Sorry!

I managed to get a recording that I feel somewhat good to share, it was quite a fun experience doing the recording indeed. I found the section quite fascinating, although I had to look up some German pronunciation, and had to omit a citation at around 48min 17sec due to me being unable to pronounce that sentence that was in German even if my life depended on it. Would omitting that be an issue with how LibriVox recording works?

Thanks! PL will be later today. I'll check on that citation, but usually we don't worry about such things as citations and footnotes.

How would you like to be credited in the catalog? There are places for a catalog name (some use a nickname or forum name, some their real name) and a link to a personal web site or blog, if you have one. I recommend using whatever name you say (if any) when you say, "recorded by [your name]" as that's how listeners will look for you. (Keep in mind that prospective employers, classmates, enemies, etc. can also find you using the catalog name, so be cautious if privacy might be an issue.)

Knots: well done!

45:08 - XXVIII - I would probably read this as "Volume 28 number 145" or just "28, 45" rather than naming each Roman numeral individually.

48:57 - same with ix here - I'd say "nine" rather than "i x".

Not that it matters much, but I'm guessing the initials PGT at the end are the author, who is probably Peter Guthrie Tait. It would be weird to talk about oneself in the third person, but it makes sense to me. For this, I think we generally say the author is the Encyclopedia Brittanica. Yes, it's the book and not the author, but sometimes we do weird things like that.

I think these fixes are optional. If you feel differently than I do about them, then you can leave the file as is. If you change it, then please name the file ins005_sectiononknots_encyclopediabrittanica_128kb.mp3

(I'll change the existing file name if you choose not to change your recording.)

The timestamps are shifted by about 2 seconds due to me changing the first part of the recording a bit (now I realized why they say people usually redo their first part of their recordings because it sounds unnarutal, so I re-recorded a section that sounded too forced).

About how much of the first part did you redo? I'll need to give it a quick listen, too, to be sure you didn't insert subliminal messages which would cause people to tie their bedclothes into knots in their sleep.

Ahahahaha, sorry to have to make you re-do some of the listenings, it was mostly the first few sentences, up until right before the proverbial Gordian Knot (I swear there was knot-ing about subliminal messages (´꒳`∗)). So that would be around until 2 minutes.

Oh, and it slipped my mind to say what name I would like to be used for me. I would prefer to be credited as Freddy Phan, as that is the name I mentioned in the recording.

At 1:07:38, there is a repeat ("to the amount of approximation")
Otherwise, it's PL OK -- and extremely soporific! I barely managed to stay awake!
