hi Availle and Ana,
I had done the editing on the clip except the noise reduction part, the spots are not too obvious when I lower down the volume.
I am still not too good at noise reduction parts, since I am still new to this.

Thanks for the advice. :)

Ana, thank you for the kind appreciation. :D I so much enjoy Mr. Foote's use of words and keen comparisons.

Here is Section 22, it lasts 22mm08ss:

Here is Section 8:

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/flowersfreethought1_08_foote_128kb.mp3
9:44

There appears to have been a typo (occurs at 3:03):
God Almighty has not published lists of the sect.
It has been changed to
God Almighty has not published lists of the elect.

Cheers

And Section 9:

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/flowersfreethought1_09_foote_128kb.mp3
9:26

When the late great Christopher Hitchens was asked about his preferences for the after life, he replied:
"Heaven for the view, Hell for the company."

As Oscar Wilde lay on his death bed a Catholic priest was administering the last rites. When Oscar was asked : "Do you renounce the Devil and all his works?" he replied: "Now is not the time to be making enemies."

Thank you Algy!

Oh yes, the Hitch - greatly is he missed...

Have you read "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett? It's about an unlikely pair of friends. And about heaven and hell. And prophecies. Involving the 4 horsemen. Highly recommended!

I haven't caught up with "Good Omens" - I will look out for it.

I am currently reading "The History of the world in 10 and a half Chapters" by Julian Barnes. One of the stories is about a man who ends up going to Heaven, and discovers how incredibly tedious it becomes.

Gary Larson drew some great cartoons of Hell. One of them features infernal graffiti. The image shows the devil fuming in the background while damned souls paint slogans like "Satan really cares" and "Satan is a cool guy."

Tommy

Hi Tommy! Good job on this one too.
However, there is one thing that would need to be corrected. There is a repeat (and what I assume to be your 'mistake' sign :) ) at 19:38. This part of the text: "Our salvation is here and now. It is certain and not contingent. We need not die before we realise it Ours is a gospel, and the only gospel, for this side of the grave. The promises of theology cannot be made good till after death; ours are all redeemable in this life.
We ask men to acknowledge realities and dismiss fictions.
"

Please edit it out, and post it again so I can re-check!

Best,
Ana

Hello Algy, great reading, very easy to follow! I found no issues so PL ok.

 Yeah, that's something Satan would be rather pissed about.

You know, the more you think about hell, the less it makes sense.
- Satan is the big adversary of god, trying to thwart the guy everywhere and all the time.
-> But yet, he does god's bidding by "taking care" of all the souls that god damned into eternity? But then Satan is just god's subordinate doing his dirty work and there's no need for people to get all prissy about him - really, they should be pissed at god.
- If Satan is a separate entity doing his own stuff, why torturing the people in hell who we can assume like and do all the things he likes and does as well? Shouldn't they have a big get-together and party all the time down there, bad-mouthing god and everything?
Does not compute, that one.
Cheers, Ava.
