Bookworm, are these completely different recordings or just edited? The run times are quite a bit different, even taking edits into considerations, and the places the mistakes were at are not the same.

There is no need to re-record the entire story - just the edits need to be fixed. I need to know if they are different recordings, because then I have to listen to them in their entirety again, which is a lot of extra work.

Hi Shahd,

Welcome to Librivox! Here is a link to your catalog page: https://librivox.org/reader/14607
First, we can not use that text source, as it does not state where it is from. However, I did find the same version here: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/27200

The recording itself is fine ~ no repeats, etc. However, there technical aspects that are incorrect. This is why we strongly encourage doing and getting an okay on a 1 minute test before jumping into a longer recording. :-)
First, as you know, it needs to be an mp3, not a wav file.
The bit rate needs to be 128 kbps.
The volume is much too low. It needs to be amplified. However, there are some spikes in the recording that will prevent amplification. You will need to de-amplify the spikes before amplifying the entire file.
After you get the volume up, you are probably going to have some bad background noise that will need to be reduced.
And last, but not least the file name is incorrect. It should be in this format: csw036_shorttitleinoneword_readersinitials_128kb.mp3

Here are some links that may help you in getting the technical settings correct:
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Audacity_1-2-3#Configure
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Instructional_Videos
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

I know this is probably a bit overwhelming, but do what you can, and if you run into trouble, don't hesitate to ask for help. :-)

Oh no, I'm so sorry! They are different recordings. I didn't save the Audacity editions of the former recordings so that's why I did them over again.  so...should I re-record Fairer-than-a Fairy? Also, here are the Gutenberg links to the stories.

If you don't have the mp3 file on your computer, just download it from the Magic Window. You can open the mp3 file in Audacity and edit from there. :-) It saves yourself a lot of work too! You don't want to redo a really long file for a very small edit! :-) Look at it as good practice this time around!

I'll relisten to these, but if you haven't redone the last one yet, please just edit it and reupload. If you need help getting it to open in Audacity, just let me know and I will try to help!

It is probably a good idea in the future to save the audacity file until you get a PL OK ~ then it is probably safe to delete.

The House in the Wood PL Note.

Everything is fine except at the end you say twice "End of the House in the Wood". Please cut one of those out and reupload. :-)

Could I just re-record Fairer-than-a-Fairy again? Because I have edited it 20 times(not an exaggeration,I counted them) and not once has it come out correctly.😡
