This wonderful reading is PL OK!!
In fact, "OK" is a galactic understatment.
The tides of your voice rose and fell and rose and fell again.
It is a symphonic performance.

Well, thank you for that compliment. :D It really compliments the author, because James Stephens is effusive, witty, poignant, dramatic and rhythmic, making him fun to read, despite having to guess at the Irish names. In fact, I might just do another one for this collection.

Here is the Edna St. Vincent Millay poem that triggered my "rose and fell and rose and fell again" comment:
Love is Not All (Sonnet XXX)
Edna St. Vincent Millay - 1892-1950

Love is not all: it is not meat nor drink
Nor slumber nor a roof against the rain;
Nor yet a floating spar to men that sink
And rise and sink and rise and sink again;

Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath,
Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone;
Yet many a man is making friends with death
Even as I speak, for lack of love alone.

It well may be that in a difficult hour,
Pinned down by pain and moaning for release,
Or nagged by want past resolution's power,
I might be driven to sell your love for peace,

Or trade the memory of this night for food.
It well may be. I do not think I would.

I have a submission for you here, if I may. Since you won't be including A Dog's Tale by Twain, how about "The Californian's Tale?" Both love story and ghost story.

The Californian's Tale
Mark Twain (1835-1910)
Read from the Gutenberg text: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/142/142-h/142-h.htm#link2H_4_0027

Hope you like it.

Love this poem. I've taught it to my students for years. (I'm a high school English teacher from August to May.)

Hi Cavaet, I am unable to download your file. Not sure why. Please resubmit it using the correct spelling "bryusov". Maybe that will fix the problem, though I don't understand why I can't download it. It says "file not found".

I see in the Guttenburg text they Anglicized his name, probably to make it easier to read. Anyway hope this one works.

PL Notes The Californian's Tale
Loyal neighbors and an interesting love story, indeed!
All is well with your reading, except Checker reports your volume at 84.6 (LV median is 89). I recommend you boost the front and back end of your file Effect/Amplify/+3.
0-9:00, and 18:5 to end.
Then you can boost the whole file +2, which evens out the volume and brings it all into range.

PL Notes The Marble Bust

Delightful read! Only two issues, the OUTRO repeats the Intro. Delete from 9:37 to end, and insert (from First Post):
OUTRO (end of recording)
End of Title, by Author
There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.

and when you re-upload, the file name must be in all lower case, and you can shorten the story name to "marblebust".

I would like to try one of theses please -it looks like there are stories available? Yet not named in the MW. I'd be happy to record story 10, if avail.
Thanks!

Hi, Linda and welcome to the project. What you do to participate is find a public domain story somewhere pertaining to Love in some way that's no more than an hour in length (8-9,000 words), record it, and submit it with the information requested in green near the bottom of the First Post (title, author, text link, etc.). All stories are chosen by the readers.
