Hello LibriWorld, newbie here with first post. Probably the worst story ever, a chauvinistic, sexist cliche by an unknown author, hardly worth fishing out of the public domain. But I put in the work so might as well enter it into a slot. I wish Mystery Science Theater 3000 could get its hands on it.

And now for the technical stuff:

The story title: Satellite of Fear
The author’s name: Frederic Arnold Kummer
The URL displayed by the LibriVox Uploader after the file has successfully uploaded:
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/ssf068_satelliteoffear_kummer_lmb_128kb.mp3
The URL for the online version of the text: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/61869/61869-h/61869-h.htm
The duration of the recording: 38:04
o Your name/pseudonym as you wish it to appear in the LibriVox catalog:
Lyons McBean

I apologize in advance to the poor PL, who will probably (hopefully) be the only person that will ever listen to it.

Hi Lyons,
This is the kind of story that makes these collections fun. More than 20,000 people may listen to your recording. Good thing you did a great job with it!
PL Notes:
There are 3 technical issues that need to be corrected.
-The bit rate needs to be 128kbps.
-It needs a constant bit rate.
-It is too loud. Our target is 89db. This is at 95. Please bring it down in the 89db range.
Please listen to it again afterwards to see if the bit rate change makes you sound like a chipmunk. I can't remember which change does that. If it makes it sounds too slow or fast, please adjust the tempo until it sounds good to you.
Thanks!
Amy

Amy (I apologize for burdening the whole thread with a new post on technical issues but I can't seem to figure out how to reply to your reply), thank you for your advice on fixing the bit rate. I have made that change. I am having difficulty reducing the volume. Should I be reducing the gain on the entire recording, reducing the entire recording by a percentage, or doing something else? FYI, I am using Audacity to make and edit the recording. Thank you again for your wisdom!

Hi Adam,
You could reduce the gain on the whole recording if it doesn't say it will cause clipping.
Another way that won't cause clipping is to use the compressor effect and then reduce the amplification by 1.5 db. I think that will bring this recording in range.
Thanks,
Amy

Hello
will this one work?
http://www.gutenberg.org/files/41481/41481-h/41481-h.htm#The_Stolen_Mind
its The Stolen Mind by M. L. Stanley
im asking because its 9786 words, so is that cutting it to close?
