Thanks, I did do one noise reduction pass (think I used default settings in Audacity's noise reduction except for raising sensitivity from 12 to 16).

I have tried to clean it up a little more here, including the clicks, hopefully.
One thing I've found is that sometimes deleting bits of audio introduces a small "click" at the new join, and I haven't been able to work out how to completely remedy those.

There are a bunch of places where I re-read lines, so had to delete the "outtake" parts, and I saved over my raw original with some parts that clipped when I did normalisation, so ended up introducing the introduction part and a few seconds from about 6:41 from a new recording (both visible in spectrogram view because it seems my noise reduction didn't work quite the same with them?)

Anyway, the new file:

Ahhhhhh! I have a solution for many of the clicking 'joins.' I just learned it recently.

One hits the 'z' key before hitting delete, but after selecting the material to be erased. The 'z' key lines up the wave endings and beginnings to the zero point so there is no click.

Shall I link you to a video that explains this?

If it's only the file name, then don't worry about it. Make sure the MW has the link to the file as it's now named, and I'll fix the file name at cataloging time. :)
Thank, TriciaG. I think we're doing a little clean up, too.

So I gathered from the next post.

If you hit the Z key after selecting some of the audio, it'll adjust the ends of the selection to the nearest "zero crossing" (where the wave form crosses the base line). This should help eliminate some clicks at joints.

That said, I try to cut/paste at full stops in my audio, such as T or K sounds, where there's a break in the sound wave. It makes for easier patching. :) This may mean I'm putting in more than just the flubbed word or phrase.

Thank you both for the tips, I looked at the waveform zero align thing and it seems to work better than the trial and error I had going on before!

The new clip length is 9:37.

Can I take on sections 7 and 8?

P.S. You have 8 as Untitled, but it has an almost illegible title of "Our Fathers" in the header image thing.
& thanks for the warm welcome, I hope I can get a bit more steady and clearly enunciated.

Yes, of course. Please do! And thank you for pointing out the proper title!

Sections 7 & 8

https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/anzacbook_08_various_128kb.mp3 (1:14)

I upped the noise reduction a little, to no detriment I could discern.

I'd like to claim section 43 please
Just a note to alert you that your section is now Section 44. I divided an earlier section into two to avoid going over an hour for just one section.

I'll have a go at reading section 4.

Couple of questions -
do I read the editor's note first then move onto the main text?
Should I read all abbreviations as-are? (e.g. H.M./His Majesty, C-in-C/Commander in Chief)
I'm guessing it's safer to keep abbreviations as-are just to avoid any possible mistakes.

Please do read the Editors' Note. From what I can see, the abbreviations are meant to rhyme, so we should stick with the letters rather than their full meaning. I think the one exception would be 'His Majesty's.'
