Hi Michele!

I see "Desire by James Stephens" in the MW for PL .... do you have the link to the text as well?

Thanks!

Great story and again, a wonderful reading of it ... I was held captive!

Just one PL note .. at 0:07 in the intro, you say "recorded for Dreams Collection 1" and leave off the rest of the project title "– Stories and Poems"

Not a big deal, just pointing it out in case you want to edit. Let me know if you do and I'll listen for a Spot PL after uploading again.

Other than that, I would call this one PL OK!

Michele, I've listened to this with 2 different browsers and don't hear the missing text?

Could you check to see if you hear it in this file? ..and if not, try uploading again?

Thanks!

Aha! Found my error in all 3 of my files.... I said dream... vs dreams...
And they all have the missing "stories and poems" in the intros. I'll fix that as time permits.

Corrected. PL'ers earn their money!

Hi Michele -

May I join the fun -

Link to uploaded file: https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dreamcollection1_cityofmydreams_dreiser_ps_128kb.mp3
File Length in mm:ss: 8:06
Name of your story: The City of My Dreams
Author (birth year - death year): Theodore Dreiser (1871-1945)
Source from which you read: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/61043/61043-h/61043-h.htm

Amy will find another copy of this in her folder with an incorrect file name (missing the underscore between ps and 128kb).

WOW, Fritz! That is an amazing story, brilliantly written and brilliantly read! Thank you for sharing it here. I am going to have to read it myself someday, maybe for a Love Stories collection. For it is a love story too! I have always wondered why people are soooo attracted to NYC. Now I know.

Hello Michele,

I stumbled on this collection. What a nice idea! It should throw up all sorts of interesting interpretations of the subject.

Here's another cross-section of dreaming, although maybe you oughtn't to listen before bed!

'Nightmare' byClark Ashton Smith (1893-1961)

Duration: 1.31

Thanks Erin. Short and sweet . . . well not sweet! You're PL OK, but not if you've had dreams like that lately!

Hi Michele,

That was so much fun, I think I'll do another one. I hope there's room for a bit of silliness on the subject!

'My Nightmare' by John James Piatt (1835-1917)
Text: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=miun.abj8207.0001.001&view=1up&seq=160
Duration: 1.47
MP3: https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dreamscollection1_mynightmare_piatt_el_128kb.mp3

This is a bit of a curve ball. The author isn't in the catalogue, this web page:
https://snaccooperative.org/ark:/99166/w6668s5j
says he was an American poet, journalist and consul. It also says that he spent many years in Ohio, and the dedication to this book was written in Cincinnati, so I think it's probably our guy. His years of birth and death are from the HathiTrust item record. Apparently he wrote quite a bit, so, even though this isn't much, it will be nice to add him in audio form.
