Hi!
I'm new. I would like to read Bessie’s Dream, section 32. :D
Hi,

Welcome to LibriVox! Section 32 is all yours! Please read the first post of this thread carefully.

Please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal web site/blog.

Also, since this is your first recording, we ask that you send in a 1-minute test recording. This is not an audition, it's just to make sure the sound quality and the recording settings are all right - often things can be improved at the outset that are difficult to fix later. Please go to 1-Minute Test: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test to find out what to record for your 1-minute test, and how to upload the recording. In the LibriVox Uploader, please select 'tests - tests' from the MC drop-down, and then post your test recording in the Listeners Wanted forum, rather than in this thread - you'll get feedback more quickly there.

Thanks, and have fun!

Hi!

Could I claim Section 17 "What Became of a Dare?"

This will be my first recording here, you can use Colleen Arnold in your catalogue.

Let me know if there is anything else that I should do for you. Thanks!
Hi Colleen,

Welcome to Librivox. 17 is yours!

Here is a link to your catalog page, which is a good way to keep track of what you have signed up for and what you have completed: https://librivox.org/reader/13596

I just gave you an okay on your test, so you are good to go!

Have fun!

Thank you, Kevin.

There are two minor PL notes - one of which is my fault.
In the intro you say "Uncollected Short Works" it should be "Short Stories".
The in the outro, which is completely my fault - I forgot to change it in the template - it should be end of Section #, not end of Chapter.
Fixed, though I wish my editing skills were better.

I'm going to kick myself for this, but I'd like to claim sections 30, 75, and 78.

I listened to the entire thing and edited it to delete my random couple of coughs, studders, and clearing of my throat. I think it should be decent enough I hope! Sounds good to me but if anyone could give it a listen I would appreciate it. Thank you all for contributing to Librivox!

Thank you!

There are some technical issues (A reason we do recommend getting an okay on your test before proceeding to a longer recording. :-)) But they are all fixable.

The Bit Rate is 190 kbps and variable - we need it to be 128 kbps and constant.
The recording is in Stereo - we need it to be in Mono.

Here is a video that one of our volunteers made on setting up the technical specs in Audacity (If that is what you are using): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8JkCgKo3fU

Onto the actual recording. :-) You did a nice job.

I would recommend some light noise cleaning as there is a small amount of background noise. Here is a video on noise removal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFSg9o37HMw

There is a small repeat at @9:39 you repeated "I'll" in "I'll bet, said Frank."
Also, at the very end @10:52 you read the ending for the end of the entire book. It should be just "End of Section 41".

If you could fix those issues and re-upload using the same file name, that would be great!

Also, one last thing: when you post the new file, please let me know what the running time is. We need it for cataloging! :-)
