I've put your sections in the MW Ready for PL.

You may have overlooked the special notice in the head post for this project, but I'm limiting claims to no more than 10 sections per reader. I want to give as many people as possible on opportunity to read some of these, especially to attract some brand new readers, which we have. I may open this up for more claims late in the project, depending on how it goes.

Let me know which 3 additional sections you would like, and you can have them. (36 and 39 I'm saving for a new reader).

Thanks for understanding.

xgravity23 wrote: September 4th, 2019, 7:55 pm Okie doke! I think I did this Amplify thing correctly... at least I hope I did! I am sure I fixed the bit rate, though. I also trimmed the end of section 7.

I wasn't sure how to view the actual db in Audacity. It just shows 0 +/-1... I Googled a bit to try to figure that out, and didn't find much, except that Audacity shows a digital db and not actual db... Anywho, I found another Librivox thread on this issue, followed the YouTube video instructions (just how to use Amplify), and re-exported. Please let me know if there is more I can do. Sorry to be such a bother!

2nd EDIT: I just found the ReplayGain Audacity plug-in link in the Recording Notes forum post. Adding that now and double checking my files!
Your reading is quite beautiful, Lyndon. (sp?) You have a wonderful reading style - very clear, and your rhythm and intonation are excellent, you really tell the story and bring out the meaning. I look forward to listening you read more.

Re. volume, Checker failed both your files so not quite there yet, I am afraid. (I do recommend you run your files through Checker in the early days, before uploading). But I think there are 2 different issues.
006 is almost right, not too low when you look at in Audacity, but I think Checker rejects it because it is wider in range (ie, slightly higher AND lower) than the target. If you run Checker, and then select Tools, View Waveform, you'll see lines indicating the range, and where yours is. It's entirely possible that ReplayGain added just a bit more than needed - it did that for me, and I learned to adjust it down by about 0.5 or so. eg, if it says Amplify by 14.7, I will amplify it by only around 14.02. I hope this doesn't sound too techhead!! Let me know if you need more help.
Other than that, no issues at all!

But 007 doesn't look as though changes have been made: volume way too low, still wrong bitrate (not 128 and still variable not constant).
The only other change is that your final sentence is well over 5 secs and needs trimming.
Thanks for reading.

Let me know if you need help fixing this - the good thing is just consider this as 'difficulty at the beginning, because once you get it sorted, it wont crop up again and will all flow nicely.

Shane, did you get any feedback? I couldn't find any link to your test file (it helps!!) and though I looked through the relevant forum, didn't find one from you.

Hi, Justin!

I've given you 158 for now.
I just want to make sure you follow through since you didn't complete the sections you claimed in the Mencken project.
I think there will plenty to go around here.

Very good, Justin!
This PL OK, and I've given you the rest of your sections to read.
Thanks so much.

Oh, did I miss these?

I'm so sorry. All are still open except for 17 which have been recorded, but you have the others.
Feel free to add some more if you like.
