yet another place where I definitely would not want to spend my holidays  I get the shivers just by thinking about sitting on an ice floe in the middle of the ocean. *shudders*

But: perfectly narrated and PL ok. It was an interesting section, thank you so much, Kristine. 8-)

Here are two icy sections of mine: :D

92 at 17:15: https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume08_092_tappan_128kb.mp3

and 93 at 14:59: https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume08_093_tappan_128kb.mp3

I'll need a bit more time for the last one, sorry 'bout that.
Cheers,
Ava.

no problem, I'll give you an extension (one month enough ?) thanks for letting me know, and especially thanks for getting these two sections in now in time :9:

Icebergs are creepy, wouldn't want to be around any. Titanic comes to mind. :? But the two sections were extremely interesting and highly enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for that.

Section 92 is already PL ok.

two small PL notes for Section 93:
> at 2:11: (p. 478) underlined part of sentence missing: ...was deep blue; and that if any ice, as sometimes happened...
> at 3:03: (p. 479) repetition: “who decided to go over to the other side” – one version can get cut

thanks !

what a craftsman ! And I was surprised to hear that they are first completely locked inside the hut before they cut out a doorway  Serious case of claustrophia there for me !

It's flawlessly narrated and you got your tongue well around these difficult Eskimo names. I only hear this background hum twice again :( maybe my ears are too sensitive, but it's a bit hard to understand the text in those two parts. I think it would be best if you re-recorded those two small bits:

> at 0:57: (p. 509) "and that she is to bring him his snow-shovel"
> at 12:17: (p. 515) "shakes it and well beats it"

Have you found out what created this hum in intervals ? :hmm: Maybe it is only a passing truck.

Thanks April and have a nice weekend !

Sonia,
Here is section 97 with your edits applied

The alaskan was a definite craftsman. The multi layer socks amazed me ,though I do understand the reason and it does make sense.
The sound is probably from outside traffic, vehicles passing by...

I hope you don't mind my chiming in, April. But I deal with the same problem of cars and trucks, sometimes very loud ones, driving by just outside while I'm recording. I try to listen to the noises around me as I record, and if a loud truck goes by, often I'll repeat the sentence I just read once it has passed, just in case the noise was loud enough to mess up the recording. That way, it is very easy to avoid having loud traffic noises in your final recording. :)

Hello Devorah,
I appreciate your chiming in. I have determined the best time to record though the vehicles do not know that. I will do what you have suggested and read it again once the sound has left my area. That sounds like a divine idea so I seriously THANK YOU!
