Works for me!

If anyone pops in with another submission in the next 2-3 days before you get yours in, we'll stretch this project to 21 sections. ;)

Kent's Annual Catalogue PL OK!

I had a couple giggles, eyebrow-raises, and snorts while listening. I can't remember exactly what gave me reactions, other than one children's book being something like "The Death of Tom Thumb", and some books being "safe" for women to read.

Oh, thanks, Tricia.
That's a relief.

Just remembering, as the Poe book came up, that you added me to the LV catalog and listened to my very first recording just a little over six years ago. It's been a good ride, but I still feel like a beginner sometimes . . . . Lots of reading, proof listening and book coordinating. Looking forward to hitting the hundred mark on that soon.

Would someone be willing to endure PL'ing an hour's worth of school board reports? Since I recorded it, it's a bit hard for me to PL it.

Oh, and...

Last call for submissions!

If you're in the process of recording something for this collection, post about it now or risk having to wait several years to submit it to the next collection.

If you haven't started recording, then don't start. Save the text for the next collection, whenever that will be.

Section 1 is PL OK

Oh no, I found a couple of things interesting.
Like the huge disparity in wages for men and women. I, of course, lived during a time when this was so but I didn't realize to what extent.

I also enjoyed the recommendations and that.... teachers should be able to read well.

LOL! Thanks!

As I was reading it, I was wondering some things about the wage disparity. The board prices were about double for men - is that because they eat more? And it seems like the men were teaching in the winter, when the older boys were in school. So did that make the job harder? :hmm:

Aside from the obvious sexism inherent in the period, of course...

Yeah, they probably had to do some arm twisting to get someone to teach some of those boys. 8-)

Thank you Tricia! I have a section recorded for the next one but the editing was putting me to sleep. If you don't start another for three or four years it might be ready by then.
