oh, hi Eric ! I remember you from the test ;) so cool that you want to start your first section in this project :D

I'll sign you up for the section. As you're a new reader, I need to open a personal reader page for you. What reader name do you want to go by, your real name, or forum name or any other pseudonym ? Just let me know.

Please read carefully the first two posts, you'll find all the info for correct file-naming and how to say the intro, and how to read footnotes in there.

If there are any questions, don't hesitate to ask :)

have fun recording

I did not know this painting yet, but interesting. You see many more details in colour: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Surrender_of_Breda#/media/File:Vel%C3%A1zquez_-_de_Breda_o_Las_Lanzas_(Museo_del_Prado,_1634-35).jpg

thank you Alan, yet another PL ok section :)

Well, it's my first one. I think I recorded it about a hundred times. Got a new mic but I'm still super green with editing. I did my best but if it still needs work, please tell me so I can start over.
For the reader name, I guess I'll go with E. Johnston

great, thank you for the reader name, so your personal reader page is here: https://librivox.org/reader/13402
you will see all the projects listed here in which you have participated.

Now to your section. First of all, the reading was really good, fluent, yet easy-paced so it's a pleasure to listen to :D A really good start.

However there were a few things missing, which need to be inserted still. I hope you were joking when you said you recorded it that many times  This is really not necessary. If we all had to re-record just because we have a mistake or two, nobody would ever get anything done. :? We all make mistakes or stumbles or oversights. The crucial thing is to learn editing. So please ! Do not re-record all this again. First: it's too much work for you, second: the chances that you make another error are high, and third: it's also too much work for me as prooflistener. If you only edit the few mistakes I note down here, I only need to make a Spot PL on these few time stamps.

Here is how best to edit:

1) open a new Audacity window
2) re-record the sentences that were wrong
3) noise-clean or amplify those parts, like you did your previous recording
4) now highlight the new sentence, and copy it
5) go to your finished file, put the cursor in the time-stamp I mentioned, and paste the new sentence in
6) relisten to the sentence before and after, and if you find the new sentence is too different in volume, highlight it again and adjust the volume a bit

If you still need further help, don't hesitate to ask. And don't despair if your first attempts at editing sound a bit off. We all had that in the beginning. Practice makes perfect, that's why it's so important to learn editing from the start. ;) It will get better with time. And it will definitely save time which you would waste on re-recording it all.

So, here are the things to correct:

> the volume is only 84.9 dB which is outside our accepted range (86-92 dB). Please amplify by 2 dB at least

> at 1:05: (p. 293) missed line: “Often when land was granted to a man, he was required to make a small payment of money or produce.

> at 1:49: (p. 293) please also say “the editor” at the end of the intro text. We usually read everything that is written by the author, and it’s good to hear that the intro is over here and the text begins

> at 3:14: (p. 294) “for the deliverance of any innocent person” – you forgot “innocent”, I guess the vow was not to deliver guilty people ;)

> also careful with the file name. Here we have over 100 sections, so we need 3 digits, you need to name it with a 0 before 54.

thank you. :)

thank you, April. The section is PL ok and nicely read, especially this postman's voice  very lively.

no need to reupload anything, but be careful with the file name. As you can see, there is a long dash after "worldstory": __ instead of _ and you forgot to make 3 digits (040 instead of 40) for the number. But since there are no other errors, I will correct the filename myself tonight.

ooooh, a fast-paced ride here at the end. Reminds me of some sleigh-rides as a kid in our forests. I haven't done this anymore since I was a kid. So interesting that it was a big hobby for adults as well back in the day. It did sound a bit dangerous though.

Thanks for the nice reading, Jim. All PL ok again :)

Due to some newly announced changes in my work schedule for June, my discretionary time will be greatly reduced.
Regretfully, I ask to be released from Sections 91,98,104

oh I am sorry to hear that, Larry, but thanks for notifying me immediately. I'll orphan those parts then.

Guys: that means there's an opening in the second Tell play. Anyone wants to be a Fisherman ?

Good luck with your work, Larry, and I hope it's not too stressful.
