PL of Section 19 (WV State Board of Ed v. Barnette):

Nicely read, I like your pace and emphasis!

4:43 and 4:53 - note 3 and note 4 had info I thought was interesting and may be worth including but I don't insist -- up to reader.

6:02 - "injunction" - I hear "injunctions"

7:34 - "Fourteenth amendment of the Federal Constitution - the word Federal was omitted.

8:37 - "rights of others to do so" I hear "rights to others to do so" - I'm not sure if that changes the meaning enough to require it to be changed, but I'm noting it (there were other similar tiny word changes that I didn't think changed the meaning at all, and I skipped those)

11:31 - "followings" - I hear "followers" (this may not be a significant change worth fixing)

12:25 - "this court" - I hear "his court"

16:19 - "presents" - I hear "require"

16:57 - Note 15! I'm torn here -- on one hand, that quote in the footnote is gold, and I would love to hear it included; on the other hand, the long list of citations following it would have to be read as well, and that is booooring. So if it's possible to include the quote only, I would include this footnote, otherwise leave it omitted.

16:57 - between the Note 15 and Note 16 citations, text was omitted - reading skips to the text that starts after note 16. Missing text goes from "It is not necessary..." to "...unquestioned general rule"

17:41 - "problem" - I hear "power"

18:44 - "validly" - I hear "validity"

19:44 - "officially" - I hear "official"

23:54 - "transmitting" - I hear "submitting"

24:52 - "on such slender" - I hear "by such slender"

28:08 - "some end thought essential" - I hear "strong end thought essentially"

28:34 - "As first and moderate methods" - I hear "At first the moderate methods"

I've PL'd section 23 (Berger v. New York).

I like your expressive reading! Here are the corrections I noticed:

--Your recording is 82.0 Db, it needs to be amplified to be at least 86, and 89 is preferred.

--00:55 - include the citation of the "NY Code" here because it is the law the decision is considering.

--5:06 - small hesitation

--11:18 - Weeks v. United States - omit the numerical part of the citation.

--The biggest change needed is including "Quote" before all longer quotations (more than a few words) and "End of quote" at the conclusion of each quotation. To make it easier, I limited this change in this recording to just the quotations that are long enough to be indented. These occur at:
  • 9:36
    10:12
    11:20
    14:31
    14:58
    15:25
    16:01
    16:24
    16:46
    17:14
    17:46
    18:01
    18:23
    18:40
    19:25
    21:41
    22:23
    22:57
    25:56
    29:57
    31:23
    32:46
It's not as complicated as the list makes it look -- easiest to record "quote" and "end of quote" once and then just cut/paste it at the beginning and end of each of the quotes.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be whatever help I can.

Craig,

One small edit missed. At 31:22 - "some end" still sounds like "strong end". Otherwise all good!

Just to let you know -- I have a bad cold this week and am going out of town next week through around 5/8. If my cold and voice improve between now and when I leave town, I will try to get this recorded, otherwise it will be around mid-May. If you need to reassign this, that's okay.

I will keep on doing the PL-ing as it comes in.
