To the River by Edgar Allan Poe (1809 - 1849).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/to-the-river-by-edgar-allan-poe/
This Weekly Poem is taken from the Complete Poetical Works of Edgar Allan Poe (1883)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's poem can be found here.
[*] Project Code: 0Jw6J3w0

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
To the River by Edgar Allan Poe, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
Fair river! in thy bright, clear flow
Of crystal, wandering water,
Thou art an emblem of the glow
Of beauty—the unhidden heart—
The playful maziness of art
In old Alberto's daughter;

But when within thy wave she looks—
Which glistens then, and trembles—
Why, then, the prettiest of brooks
Her worshipper resembles;
For in his heart, as in thy stream,
Her image deeply lies—
His heart which trembles at the beam
Of her soul-searching eyes.

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: totheriver_poe_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. totheriver_poe_klh_128kb.mp3 )

ID3 tags (Version 2.30): ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

*Readers, please check back in a day or so for any feedback regarding your reading.

Thank you Debra, good first reading. :D
Your file has a noticeable background hum, I see you are using a USB mic, is it plugged directly into your computer or are you using a USB hub, sometimes it makes a difference. You can use Noise Reduction in Audacity to reduce the hum.
Here are a few video tutorials on Noise Reduction. Please ask if you need more help.

*Please let me know under what name would you like to appear in the LV catalog and if you have one, we can put your personal URL link on your catalog page too.
You can view your brand new LV Catalog page by clicking your forum name in the Magic Window.
