Edit: according to the Wikipedia article, he lived in Peckham… where I was born But he was long dead by the time I arrived on the scene and as I moved at age 3, I'm not particularly familiar with 'other' famous residents.

Yes, it's amazing what one can dig up about these obscure writers, especially the ones using a pseudonym who are more difficult sometimes to find out about. I live in N London so Peckham is a foreign country and we often joke about having our passports with us when we go south of the river! It's hard to find really good writers though, and the more obscure ones both here and in the US vary quite a lot. (I've just read a book by a slightly less obscure 19C/20C female detective story writer in the US who at times was quite hard going!)
