Carolin:

Attached is the link to section 23--The Play. There are no missing lines. (Sections 37, 40, and 41 are all PL-OK!) The line "of course" at about 19:07 in the play was recorded there only by the Princess (and was labelled for all children--except Rosetta). However, both the Prince and Alfred had the words "of course" elsewhere in the play...so I copied them and pasted them in at 19:07.

The running length for the play is 36:20.

I look forward to the PL and to any suggestions. The only stage direction I omitted was the phrase "Hide and Seek" which was recorded by the Prince, Rosetta and Alfred--so I substituted and synced their voices in place of the stage direction. Wonderfully read--everyone!

Many thanks to all,

Philip

I'm sorry about that. I did it on the 16th but it got lost in the thread and I didn't notice the MW hadn't been updated.

Carolin,
Let me know if you want me to make the edits for section 13. It's all technical so easy enough to do.

Lynda,
Section 30 is PL OK!

Philip,
Section 23 is PL OK! Nice work on the editing.

I probably would have left off a couple more stage or actor instruction where you could hear the intent of the direction in the actors voice. Example: 12:00 Narrator reads “together” before an all line. I would have omitted this. Certainly nothing wrong with leaving them all. DRs are tricky in that we want to stay true to the text which means leaving them all while balancing what seems like repetition. If you are ever editing something approaching the 70 min max then you may need to cut some of them.

The only other thing I would have done would be to adjust the volume of each track before assembling. There are times when some of the characters seemed soft compared with others. Not a problem, just something I tend to do.

Welcome to editing a DR and again, nicely done!

Hello Bryn,
The volume on your section is too low at 85.8dB. We aim for 89dB with an acceptable range of 86-92dB. Due to spikes you won't be able to do a straight amplification. Consider using compression. This will lower the spikes so you can then amplify ~4dB. Here is a video on compression: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fKYYj6HMZU

You will also need to do a round of noise cleaning: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Instructional_Videos#Noise_Removal

These are both standard post production processing items. Most readers need to do volume manipulation and noise removal for all recordings.

Since you have to modify the file please trim the ending silence to 5 seconds. Thank you!
Compression applied, amplified, noise cleaned and ending silence trimmed.
