Have you found Phil's videos on how to do basically everything when it come to recording and editing? Here is the link, http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Instructional_Videos , there is one video in the Help with Audacity section on how to cut out and replace a mistake.

Hi Ann

Thanks for the advice. I have replaced the section with the mike rattle. The time is 1 hr 1 min 33 secs. and the link is:

Hi Paul,

Welcome to LibriVox! I have you down for section 7, thank you, but please make sure to do the one minute test first. It is our way to make sure that your settings are where we need them to be before you start recording. That way, your life will be made much easier! Here is the link that tells you everyothing you need to know to get started. Newbie Guide to Recording What name would you like credited on your catalog page?

Thanks for the one minute suggestion. I think I need to do some hardware adjustments (battery in headset is not holding a charge). BRB!

Hi Ann,

I have uploaded a test. I am hoping to get a better mic. This one sounds acceptable and I have not put any processing on it though I can hear hiss that could be removed with a bit of low-pass filtering.

Thanks!

The one main problem you have right now it the volume. We shoot for 89 dB, with a range of about 87-92. Your volume is currently at 80.2 dB. Of course, once you get the volume up to where we need it to be, then your background noise will be an issue. In your test, the background noise was 47.8 dB. I agree, some low-pass filtering would clean the background up very nicely. Otherwise, your test was great! If you could amplify, then filter your recording, then upload that, I will give it a listen and probably turn you loose to record. As far as your mic goes, I have been happy with the Samsung Go Mic, which is around $30 on Amazon. There are a lot of mics out there that cost a lot more, but for the price, the Go Mic works well.
