Sorry these took so long. I have not been maintaining a first in first out queue of recordings.

These were recorded and edited while I was cooking the family dinner. And I thought us men weren't supposed to be able to multi-task.

Here are my PL notes on your four sections:

In general, just be aware of your ending silences on these. We want 5 seconds and these four sections range between 4 and 7 seconds. Nothing that needs fixing now, but something to watch for future recordings.

38 is PL OK
48 is PL OK

42 I marked PL OK as well, however in your Intro, you read "Recorded for LibriVox.org", instead of "Read for LibriVox.org". No need to fix now, but again something to watch out for in future recordings.

Section 40 has a couple edits needed.

At time of 0:50, I heard you read: “I know that in very truth that men”, and the text reads: “I know in very truth that men”. Middleton uses a rhyming pattern here in the stanza of 8,6,8,6 syllables in the lines and the extra “that” throws the metre of the poem off.

At time of 1:20, I heard you read: “Why I would love her soul.”, and the text reads: “When I would love her soul.” While the use of “why” instead of “when” doesn’t change the metre, it does change the meaning of the line.

Thanks,

Nemo

I'm dreadfully sorry about the errors. I hope that I have fixed them in this version:

Yes, this is PL OK now ..... the edits were very skillfully done. Nice job!

I replaced the whole last verse as, in addition to the where/when problem, I'd pronounced the 'nor's like 'no'. I dropped in a single line for the 'that' problem.

11, 14, and 53. Not sure about the phrasing of 14. Or any of them really. Maybe I should be going more for quality than quantity?

EDIT: I saw your request to stop just posting poems without claiming them first after I recorded the above. I'll do so in future.

Thank you for these.

I will PL them tomorrow after Carolin assigns them to you and the MW gets updated.

And yes, while I would not presume how to tell someone to record their poems, I think it is always better to go for quality than quantity when it comes to recording! :)

Thank you recordingperson! I agree with nemo, when you read poetry it helps to carefully consider the meaning and read accordingly, so quality over quantity

Thanks also for promising to claim before posting. You can always claim a batch at a time if you like, and you are ready for a solo if you fancy being your own coordinator

My PL notes for your sections above:

A general note, I found your readings of these much smoother and more expressive. It felt like you were really feeling the poems, which is wonderful! Very nice.

Section 11 - PL OK!

Section 14 - Just one small edit needed. At time of 0:11, I heard you read: “And murmur to me in the dreamy night”, and the text reads: “And murmur to me in the dreamy light

Section 53 - At time of 0:39, you left out the first four lines of the 3rd stanza on page 96:

Your little hands that tremble,
In doing right—or wrong,
Your lips that can dissemble,
But cannot hide your song

Thanks,

Nemo

I'll have to fix these late, at home, so that I reproduce the same recording environment. Otherwise lines dropped in will sound too different.

Thanks very much Nemo.

Here are the repaired versions. The drop into 14 isn't perfect, but it's not too bad. Tell me if you think it's obvious where I've been to work with the razor blade. 53 sounds a bit more natural.

I've tried to be more precise with the five seconds silence at the end. Thanks for the comment on my delivery, but I think that with some practice I can do better than this.

Section 14 is good enough, I wouldn't mess with it. This is now PL OK.

Section 53 still needs some work. The sound on the missing lines does sound very natural, however you inserted the missing lines in the wrong place. They needed to go at the start of the 3rd stanza and instead you inserted them at the start of the 2nd stanza.

A quick cut, copy and paste should fix it right up!

Thanks,

Nemo
