Here are my submissions.

Section 11: http://uploads.librivox.org/carolin/testimonyofthesuns_sterling_11_128kbs.mp3 (1:29)
Section 18: http://uploads.librivox.org/carolin/testimonyofthesuns_sterling_18_128kbs.mp3 (1:03)

Carolin - Would you mind PLing these? I don't feel right judging my own recordings... :? With that being said, I get the sense that these recordings have a bit more background noise than the rest of the submissions I've PLed so far. If you agree, do you have any recommendations to help reduce that noise? Thanks!

Cate, I'm happy to PL yours if that is fine with all.

This is a lovely recording!

My only suggestion, as you mentioned exactly, is doing a little noise cleaning, to reduce the "ffffffff" sound behind your words. Please pardon me if you know about noise cleaning because I'm about to overexplain it. ;)

The last five seconds of your recording are really good and clean for selecting background noise. So if you select a portion of that ("Get Noise Sample"), you could try using it to reduce the noise. My personal recipe for Audacity's Noise Reduction (under "Effect") is:

- Noise Reduction: some number, start with 5-7 here maybe
- Sensitivity: 6
- Frequency Smoothing (bands): 6

The goal here is to remove as much background noise as possible without overly distorting your voice. When there is too much noise cleaning, you will hear a metallic or robotic tone creep into your voice. Don't close your file until you are sure you like the result, because you can always "undo" as many times as you need until you close.

Here is a good link to help if you're using Audacity, which hopefully you are, or what I said just now makes no sense. :)
http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Noise_Cleaning#Noise_Removal_with_the_free_Audacity_versions_1.3_to_2.0.6

Another thing that can help reducing background noise is getting closer to your mic -- sometimes.

The reading is terrific! I look forward to your next one.

Thanks for the feedback, Eva! I had completely misunderstood the noise reduction process but I get it now. I think these recordings should be better :)

Jude ... I noticed that some people are getting really good help on the forums in getting the most out of their mics. There seems to be some people really good with sound around ... just a thought, before you go to the trouble of rerecording any "real" pieces?

Section 02: At 0:08, the title is repeated - not sure if this was intentional or not. Otherwise, this is a wonderful reading! Truly.
Section 19: PL OK: Given that the title is also repeated in this section recording, I presume it is just the way you do things :) I'm going to mark all further items PL OK if this is the only note, but I did want to point out that yours are the only recordings which will have the titles repeated after the introduction. Just in case it bothers you or Carolin. So far, the submissions are lovely
