Here is my first recording for this project, the pitiful plaint of a poverty stricken seamstress—Section 84, "The Song of the Shirt."

Here is my second contribution, the gloomy story of a fallen maiden's suicide, Section 91, "The Bridge of Sighs."

https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/poeticalworks_091_hood_128kb.mp3
Duration: 4:18

Note for PL: I have corrected 2 errant words in the Gutenberg text. In the 5th stanza the word "Bash" should be "Rash"; and in the twelfth stanza "Swit" should be "Swift." In addition to just common sense judgment, I have checked a standard publication of the poem for accuracy.

Here is Section 103, "Faithless Sally Brown." When Sally's beau Ben is shanghaied and carried off to sea, she faithlessly finds another Ben, named John.

Here is Section 107, "Faithless Nelly Gray." Another faithless maiden shows no pity for her poor lover, this time a legless army vet.

Here is Section 121, "I'm Not a Single Man." When writing a passage in a young woman's album, the married poet must carefully avoid any hint of flirtation.
