Hi, Larry,

I finally had a chance to listen to one of your sections! I've marked Sec. 23 PL okay, although I have a few notes for your consideration.

Beneath the Banner, sec. 23
Optional:
0:26--I don't think I've heard the year 1805 read as "18,5"--was that intentional? I'm assuming so, but figured I'd ask.
2:28--I hear "coming for the next"; text has "coming from for the next"--I was slightly confused as I was listening
4:10--slight stumble on "matrons" ("between the matrons of the three orphan houses")
08:22-23--You say "million," but you don't say "thousand" when reading 1,309,627--is this intentional?

George Muller's story always reminds me to have more faith--that God IS able.

Just let me know if you decide to change any of those.

Thanks,
Stephanie

I've revised section 21 to remove reference to the caption (Livingstone's diary entry), so I hope now it will pass muster.

Also, I've changed the pronunciation of Livingstone, so I'm afraid you might have to read the section through again. Fortunately, it's not too long.

Hi, Rita,

I listened to the whole thing, and you did a good job of catching all the instances of his name (it seems like there were a lot!).

At 9:14, can you add the following back in? I know it references the illustration, but the story doesn't flow right without the rest of the wording.
After the death of Sebituane his son Sekeletu was equally friendly, as may be gathered from this page of Livingstone's diary, which, by the kindness of his daughter, Mrs. Bruce, I am permitted to reproduce.

This entry in his diary was written on the eve of Livingstone's great journey to the West Coast. Having sent his wife and family to England, he determined to find a way from the centre of Africa to the West Coast. It was a forlorn hope; but, says Livingstone, "Cannot the love of Christ carry the missionary where the slave trade carries the trader? I shall open up a path to the interior or perish."
Thank you!

Stephanie

Hi, Larry,

I had the pleasure of listening to section 24 today! I enjoyed the voices you gave to various people quoted in it.

I have just a few notes. Please take a listen to at least the first one:

5:45--I hear "Bovvat" instead of "Moffat"--in the phrase "dogs and baboons if Moffat wanted a congregation of that sort"

Optional (these really are very small, but stood out to me):
04:07--very slight stumble on "still feared t-to knock"
6:16--missing "in"--it makes it sound like "Namaqualand" is Afikaner's last name, but I'm not sure it's imperative to fix it: "He visited the renowned chief Afrikaner in Namaqualand"
10:30--very slight stumble on "report that a hostile tribe had invaded"

Thanks,
Stephanie

Thank you for the careful PL!

Actually, the one the most needs correction is the one at 6:16 because the intonation and omission of "in" changed the meaning. The others are slight, but I've gladly taken care of them as well.

Marked Ready for Spot PL :)

Thanks again for the good PL!

I've made the slight changes above except for 1805 which is my preferred way to read these dates.

Hi, Larry,

And finally--section 35!

Beneath the Banner, sec. 35

I did not know the opposition that Wesley faced--wow! (I know a lot more about Whitefield, since I've focused on American history.)

I appreciated the voices that differentiated the speakers in the dialogue sections.

I only have one important note:

6:50--I hear "Then they began to pray"; text has "then he began to pray"--it changes it pretty drastically, since it's when he's being attacked by the rabble!

Optional:
2:47-48--stumble on "two"--the phrase is "an hour or two a day for religious retirement"
4:01--very slight stumble on "Whitefield"--"when Whitefield and Wesley were preaching the Gospel"

Hope your trip is going well.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Thanks again for the PL, Stephanie!

I've corrected the first one, but will let the optional ones stand.
