Tricia, might you please add this name to our system. I am getting an error message. (Hahah! What else is new when I try to do something complicated?!)
Looks like it was already entered, which is why you got an error message. I've changed the display name as requested. Here's the catalog page: https://librivox.org/reader/17760
School fiction: David Blaize

The tests are usually placed elsewhere, but I'll be glad to help.

There are three large concerns here:

The bit rate should be 128 kbps, the volume is way, way too low, and the recording must in in mono rather than stereo.

I'm here to help, so where would you like to start?

Well, I don't have audacity because I can't download it onto my Chromebook so I have Audio Lab downloaded on my Chromebook. That's the first thing. I went through all the instructions and follow them and I thought I had it all correct.

I will make sure that mono is selected, and about the volume.. how high should I put it? Am I talking too low? And about the bit rate I'll have to look for that and make sure it's on the correct setting.

We shoot for about 89db.

I as well. Let's hear it from our readers . . . who would like to join me for a Zoom Poetry Discussion this coming Saturday at 1 p.m. If I can get 2 or 3 of you to commit to come, I'll make the announcement. There is a lot to unpack in The Children of the Night.

I have recorded this poem and you may listen to it here: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/childrenofthenight_robinson_sb_128kb.mp3

For the BC name you may use Skyler.

Since this my first recording I would be very grateful for feedback of any type.

Skyler, thank for for joining us.

First things first. Your recording meets our technical needs except that the volume is too high. It 'clocks in' at 93.4dB and our technical tolerances are between 86 and 92dB.

Next, and this is more difficult. You vary from the text on a good number of occasions. I would ask you to listen to your recording while reading the available text. You can easily find the variances yourself and I would ask that you help me in doing this first before I listen again.

As examples, you read 'moral eye' instead of 'mortal eye.' You read that God is 'just just' instead reciting one 'just.' You say 'chrism' instead of 'crimson.' You say 'sheep' instead of 'sleep'. Etc.

Looking forward to your corrections.

Kevin,

Thank you for the suggestions. I was able to address all the issues you've identified and I was also able to identify and correct more issues.

You may find the updated version at the same link: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/childrenofthenight_robinson_sb_128kb.mp3

I'm very grateful for you taking the time to review the audio file and help make it better.

Thank you,
Skyler
