-----
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Written sometime around 500 BC, this little poem expresses the desire, as one ages, to live life to the fullest with the time one has left. Here's to gray (or lack of) hair and the autumn of one's life! (Summary by TriciaG)
This week's poem can be found here.

Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
Leave 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning.
Then read the poem:Ode 7 by Anacreon, read for librivox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, and/or your location.]
At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:The women tell me every day
That all my bloom has past away.
"Behold," the pretty wantons cry,
"Behold this mirror with a sigh;
The locks upon thy brow are few,
And, like the rest, they're withering too!"
Whether decline has thinn'd my hair,
I'm sure I neither know nor care;
But this I know, and this I feel,
As onward to the tomb I steal,
That still as death approaches nearer,
The joys of life are sweeter, dearer;
And had I but an hour to live,
That little hour to bliss I'd give.
Leave 5 seconds of silence at the end.End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.
