Nicely read, thanks!

Please cut the opening silence down to between 1/2 and 1 second (now it's about 1.5 seconds), and the end silence down to 5 seconds (curretnly about 9 seconds).

Please change the name to americathebeautiful_bates_ljb_128kb (no underscore in the poem title).

With that, it'll be ready to go! 8-)

Thanks! Nice rendition. :)

About 3 seconds of silence at the beginning; please cut down to between 1/2 and 1 second.

Please also cut about 2 seconds off the end, to make it 5 seconds (it's about 7 now).

When saving to send again, please save as americathebeautiful_bates_eke_128kb - thanks! 8-)

No worries - we were all new once. ;)

That's the correct file name, yes. Did you upload it? It's not posted as a clickable link (when you copy paste the whole http... thing from the uploader, it shows up as a live, clickable link here). :)

Hello, what a great poem! This is my recording.
Welcome! Nicely read.

There are some technical settings to fix on your recording. Are you using Audacity? I'm going to assume you are in my instructions. :)

1. The project rate is 16,000 Hz; it needs to be 44,100. Go to Edit/Preferences. Under Quality, set the default sample rate to 44,100.

2. Bit rate is 24 bps; it needs to be 128. This is set when you export to MP3. When you go to export, on the screen where you enter the file name for the MP3, keep the Bit Rate mode as Constant and change the quality to 128 kbps. You should only have to set it once; it'll remember the setting until you change it again.

3. Your volume is too low. Visually, you should aim for your wave forms to peak near the 0.5 mark, like this:
Image

Make sure the microphone slider in the Audacity window is all the way up. Also, have you increased your input volume in Windows yet? Here's a link to instructions: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Audacity_1-2-3#Volume

4. Please leave only 1/2 to 1 second of silence at the start before you speak.

5. Please use the naming structure outlined in the first post: americathebeautiful_bates_your initials in lowercase_128kb

Unfortunately, these technical settings (especially #1) will require that you re-record the poem. It might be good to adjust the settings, then do the 1-minute test to be sure they're okay before doing the poem again. :)
