3:33 a repeat to correct to text "and what is its own value?"
3:51 an extra "not", text is "and does apply them to other objects?"

Please sign me up for Chapters 71-75, the whole Encheiridion. I'll attempt to record and edit one chapter each day.
I can be scatterbrained. If you suspect that I've neglected something that I signed up for, please send me a PM to let me know.
Please also feel free to send me constructive criticism, project recommendations, or adoring praise.

Seeing as these are short pieces, may I have the first 10 opens?
I'm looking forward to reading the line: "Well, do I not attend to my ass? "
Regards,
Adrian

Adrian, you will definitely enjoy recording that line, I know you will. Your voice is perfect for these wise insights into human nature. Check the magic window to see which ones you will have the pleasure of reading.adrianstephens wrote: ↑December 4th, 2021, 1:01 am Seeing as these are short pieces, may I have the first 10 opens?

Hi AstroLyon and a big welcome to LibriVox! I have assigned those sections to you but before you record them, please make and upload a 1 minute test to be sure your recording set up is OK. Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute test
Note that the each Encridion section contains about 10 seperate items and they should all be included. Also, even after getting the OK on your test, just do one section, edit and upload it so you can be sure everything is set up correctly. Save time on future recordings that's all. If y ou read ancient Greek, then you may include those words in parenthesis, if not you may ignore them.
(You may post the link to your test in this forum and I will see it much more quickly)
I also recommend Getting To Know our Forums Getting To Know Our Forums
Thank you for the welcome. Hmm, I've been lurking for a while, but at some point around when I signed up, I did perform the test. It looks like the evidence of it is gone now, though. I remember the required settings being simple enough to comply to, but I'll probably redo the test a little later today, just in case.philchenevert wrote: ↑December 4th, 2021, 7:45 am Hi AstroLyon and a big welcome to LibriVox! I've also been doing commercial audiobook work for a few months now, on ACX.com. I just finished producing a book about stoicism. I'm very fond of the public domain, so I figure why not contribute to reading a primary source on the subject as well?
So far I appear able to pronounce Greek words well enough. However, especially in the very first section of the Encheiridion, it may be better not to include those words. That way it'll be easier for listeners to comprehend the odd sentence structure without stopping for too many parenthetical bits.

This is great! We are very happy to have you and your experience and talent. Our tech specs are simple so just post a sample here in this thread and I'll check you out immediately. I suppose Epictetus was a pre-stoic but never thought of it that way. And the odd sentence structure will indeed be uh.......challenging!AstroLyon wrote: ↑December 4th, 2021, 8:29 am
