The Quest of the Queen's Tears by Lord Dunsany

https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/lovestories4_questofthequeenstears_dunsany_mtf_128kb.mp3 13:14

I shall need someone to PL this for me, please. It is a love story, sort of, the unrequited kind, but so cleverly written it doesn't much matter.

I increased the volume by 16dB, but when I listened to it, I didn't hear any background noise.
The file fails our technical checks for background noise. It isn't necessarily 'a noise' -- it could be your heating or AC cycling on, traffic sounds etc., which you barely notice. The file does need noise cleaning, I'm afraid. It is a simple process and most readers run it as a matter of course before submitting files. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFSg9o37HMw

The bit rate is also wrong. That, too, is an easy fix when you export your file. Just select 128kb from the dropdown menu at the bottom of the export dialog box.

The volume is now 87.9dB, which is fine

I had to do a rerecording because I made a mistake with my previous file version. I'm sorry if it's a hassle for anyone.

The file didn’t need redoing; just a couple of technical adjustments. The whole file will have to be PLd again.

What happened is I did make adjustments on the previous file version to fit the technical requirements, but I made a mistake, and it got shortened. I had also replaced the original version in the process, so I was left with a version that was incomplete and could do nothing about it, which is why I had to do a redoing.

You could have downloaded from the MW then imported it to Audacity, made the changes and reuploaded. That’s what we tell anyone who accidentally deleted their raw file.

The file has all the same technical issues as the original. It is unusable as is.

Hi Michele,

I saw this project in your signature and realised this hadn't been PLed. I've taken it upon myself to do, and it's PL OK!

This version fails tech specs again. Checker reports:

The bit rate should be 128 kbps.
The recording should use a constant bit rate rather than variable bit rate (VBR).
[*]These are set when you Export your audacity file to an .mp3 format

The volume, at 83.9, falls outside of the target range (86–92 dB).

I am not going to PL the recording until these items can be corrected.
