58 A New Christmas Carol
(This will be my first recording- test recording complete and approved)

Thanks~
I will be happy to put you in for this section.

But, I do need to know how you want to be listed in the LibrVox catalog (See Point 5 in the instructions) This can be your real name, a pseudonym or any nickname you wish. This is how you will be credited for all of you LV work.

Oh, I see . . . Well, I do appreciate your enthusiasm, but it is important to follow our normal protocol which is to wait until a claim has been acknowledged and assigned before recording and uploading. There are some good reasons for this, so please keep that in mind for future projects. I will go ahead and put this in the MW for PL and assign you the other two sections you requested below.

The text includes repeats of night and bloom in places where they make no sense. Is the text correct?

So sorry to overstep! Apologies for the rookie maneuver : ). I had time and decided to dive in. Thanks for the help! And thanks for assigning other two sections.

For crediting, Jody Holman is fine. Thank you.

Greetings -

I, too, appreciate your enthusiasm. :)

The Good News -

You did a good job of reading the poem. Voice, diction, and pace were very good.

The Bad News -

Your audio level was considerably above our limits (100.9 db vs 92 db) and it resulted in some distortion and clipped audio. Since it was a short piece, I would recommend recording again keeping the audio level between 86 and 92 db.

Oh, yes. The URL needs a "0" before the "58".

I don't normally PL sections before they are put in the MW, but I wanted to give you some more feedback.

The Verdict on Chapter 38?

Much better! Very good PL OK offering.

Keep them coming, Jodes.

carlijng wrote: November 15th, 2020, 4:24 am Hi there!

I had finished recording #27: the garden of play
https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/boysandgirls_027_foley_128kb.mp3 (1:49)
Greetings -

Carli - Your reading of Chapter 27 and 70 was very good. You have a pleasant and easy-to-listen-to voice.

At the end of each recording, you need to trim the silent period down to five seconds.

With Chapter 70, the pauses just before and just after you read the poem itself need to be trimmed down to one second or so.

Otherwise, each reading was PL OK.

Hello. I'd like to claim sections 71 thru 78, please!
I think I already have a reader profile to be credited with, but if possible, could you add to that my URL, https://smlavine.xyz?
Cheers!

Well, I usually discourage taking large swaths in these projects, esp for new readers, but let's give it ago. If you can do Norman Borlaug, I think you can handle these. I'll have our MC add your web site link to your profile.
