My name is Laura, I'm a student from Spain (Spanish is my native language, but I'm proficient in English, or at least I'd like to think so  ) I've known about LibriVox for a while and this Summer (as I've had enormous trouble sleeping for the past couple moths) I've found a loyal companion in the stories recorded by this wonderful community. I'm very excited to begin and do my best to contribute to this amazing project!
Hopefully will be able to do the 1-minute test when I -finally- get my hands on a microphone. Meanwhile I'm exploring the Audacity program and all the projects in the forums. Any tips to begin with are more than welcome :D

Hi there and welcome!

Get a USB mic that plugs right into your computer. No muss. No fuss.

Audacity has a trick that took me a while to understand--the cursor does different things when you choose a cursor tool.
There's one for selecting, one for moving, sometimes you have to change the cursor tool to do what you want.
It was a sticking point for me. I gave up and use OcenAudio now instead.

Have fun!

Welcome to LibriVox Adaphne! It is so nice of you to volunteer. At first some things may seem a bit confusing, especially with Audacity. Be patient; everything will clear up eventually. I've made a little video to welcome people and share a few things that I think are nice to know about us at the start of your adventure. Note, these are just my feelings. In any case ask lots of questions, we are a helpful bunch here and want VERY much for you to succeed. https://youtu.be/mwtn_2d3_qs

I also have some very basic Audacity tutorial videos: for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9NuSuWYaWg&feature=youtu.be Check out my signature for links to more.

Have a nice day!

Thank you, mr. Chenevert! I've actually been watching your videos, and so far so helpful, thank you very much for taking the time to make those :) Still will have to fool around with the program quite a bit to be comfrotable with it.
