Hello,
My name is Eileen Kelly an I am looking forward to participating in this fun and noble cause.
i am beginning in voice over work and this should be a good fit for me. Hope to begin with some children's works and some poetry.
I am from Ohio, am middle-aged, have a strong, warm, authentic voice- I am told.
Can't wait to interact with other like minded volunteers to get the words out.

Welcome at LibriVox, Eileen.

When you like to do poetry, you could instead of Peter Piper also choose some short poem for the one-minute-test and give it to one of the collections then :) The 1-minute-test is not an audition; it's purpose is to see if the tech specs are right.

Hello!
I hope this is a valid link to my one minute test. I was unable to copy and paste the link. I copies and typed it. Please let me know how it goes.
Or doesn't.
Thank you,
Newbie,
Eileen Rose Kelly

Almost :)

A valid link looks like this:
https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_ekelly_.mp3 The "https://" in the beginning of a link is important.

If you click on the link with the right mouse button (on a right-handed mouse), you will get a little popup menu where you can click "copy link location" then. This link you can paste simply with "Ctrl - V".

Let's see at your test:

I liked your reading :) There are only some technical things to fix:
  • Volume is too high. We aim at 89 dB inside a range of 86 to 92 dB. You can check it from within Audacity with ReplayGain or with a little Javascript called "Checker" (see sig.)
  • Bitrate should be 128 kbps constant
You can set mono and the right bitrate on exporting: http://cisdem.de/librivox/AudaCity_2_2_pics/export.png
It also sounds as if you applied a bit too much of noise reduction. That's just mentioned if you want to perfect your recording.

For the bitrate and volume, please edit the file, load it up and post the link here in the thread again, thank you :)
