Hi,
I'm Aaron, from Fishers, IN. While reading classics, I sometimes listen to librivox recordings. I love to read, I read about an hour each day just to my children. And often (especially while reading Shakespeare) I'll read out loud just to myself as I try to embody the characters. All this made me figure me and Librivox might be a good fit. I've got a mic from my videographer days, I've got audacity from all the video editing I do. I've ordered a cord, and stand which should be here in a day or so, and then I'll upload my test.
I'm actually quite excited!

:D

Hello Aaron and a warm welcome to our forum. There are many points in your introduction which make you a perfect candidate for LibriVox.

> you love to read to children: excellent, we have many children anthologies on offer, you'll be spoilt for choice, short stories can be found here: viewforum.php?f=19

> you are acting out Shakespeare while reading: perfect, I can see you already joining our theatre troupe :9: I'm quite active there myself, so chances are high we'll meet again in one of the plays on offer. Just have a look over here: viewforum.php?f=27

> you seem to have experience in the audio business already and are using Audacity: super, then our basic technical requirements will present no problems for you. As you said, the best thing to start out with is doing a one-minute-test and posting it over here: viewforum.php?f=21 and someone will come along and check it out and give you the ok or helpful advice if needed.

As soon as you have the ok, you're free to tuck in and record to your heart's desire.

Have fun and I'll be seeing you around !

Sonia

Hello, Aaron.
Thrilled to have you here. Your excitement is contagious. Another fun place to start, without making to huge a commitment of time, is to jump into our Weekly and Fortnightly Poetry projects. One poem, as many interpretations as our readers can make. I know a high school English teacher who uses some of our selections to teach "expression" as she exposes her students to the poems, then has them make recordings too!

Go to LV Forum (the big LV in upper left corner of every page)/Readers Wanted, Short Works/ and look for the current Weekly, and the current Fortnightly to see if there's a poem that grabs your attention. A new one goes up every Sunday. It's also a great way to get the hang of reading directions in the First Post (a bit different for each project), naming and uploading files, etc.

I will be looking for you around the LV playground. :D
