I'm Angelique, a new reader/proof listener to the site.
I'm looking forward to completing new recordings and listening to yours!
Although likely to have many tech/editing questions, I've found the admin team to be highly supportive and so look forward to the journey here, knowing there's guidance.

Highest Regards,
Angelique

Welcome, Angelique, and yes there is guidance all along the way. These forums are basically a book stitching program that lets a BC (Book Coordinator) set up all the chapters of a book of their choice and open it up for people to read, then monitors each chapter as it comes in to help move the project along. The MC (Meta Coordinator) deals with the technical side, setting up the MW (Magic Window), guiding us along when we hit snags, then catalouging the finished project. Each chapter is listened to by a DPL (Dedicated Proof Listener), or in some cases by several PL'ers (Proof Listeners) depending on the project. Each project is a wee bit different.

If you want to try proof listening, I have a few files that need attention. If you'd like to try Section 1 (which is only 6 minutes long), go to this project: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=70449&p=1471427#p1471427
Read the whole First Post for instructions on how to Proof Listen, where to find the online text, and what the reader needs to say for the Intro and Outro of each file.

In the MW, look for files marked Ready For PL. Right click to download the file to your computer. Open it up there and listen, following along with the text, and notate the time where there are any significant discrepancies (like repeat, stutter, missing phrase, wrong words) The first section is only about 6 minutes, a great length to practice on.

Hint: Throughout our forums, you Right Click on a link to open it in a separate window, or it will close the window you are in.

This invitation is just a suggestion. If you aren't ready, no problem. We more or less go at our own pace around here.
