This is meant to be a private post for a undergraduate literature course. Readers are not needed but listeners are absolutely welcomed as oversight or editorial suggestions.

Welcome!

I'm not sure what you are saying here. Do you want your literature students to record this poem for LibriVox? If so, you'll have to have an idea about how to coordinate the project, work the Magic Window, etc. - unless you find a current LibriVox member who is willing to coordinate the project for you.

I'm currently a student doing this recording for a class project. Our goal is to bring poems that are not easily accessible to literature students into the public domain. I'm actually not too sure about how to navigate LibriVox and so I don't have an idea on how to coordinate this project. What steps do I take next if I already have the recordings of my other group mates and just need to post it onto this site?

Trian,

I'm happy to work with you on this.

The recordings will need to meet certain requirements in order for us to use them.

Let's start by making sure that what you are planning to read is in the public domain. Everything we record here at LibriVox must be in the public domain. Basically, "public domain" means that you can prove it was published in hard copy form before 1923.

I'll need the title and author of each poem, along with a copy of the text from the source you are reading from. The source copy will need to include a title page with the date it was published so that I can verify that the source was published before 1923. If an electronic scan is available, you can post the link. If you only have a hard copy, I can give you my e-mail via a private message so that you can send me a PDF scan of the poem and proof of publication date.

Once we get that sorted out, I can work through the other requirements with you.

MaryAnn

I see that MaryAnn has already started working with you and explaining some of our requirements which are quite stringent as to the public domain satus of anything we put in our catalog. She will guide you well; listen to her.

But as a side note and for my own curiosity, I am interested in knowing why you feel LibriVox would be the best choice for these poems. Have you explored any other ways to post these recordings on the internet? Some of them would probably be much easier than meeting our requirements and still accomplish what you want to do. But then I don't know. With that said, listen to MaryAnn and best of luck in your classwork and in promoting the love of poetry! Image.

I agree with Phil - why not upload them all to Archive yourself - it would still make them available and save you a lot of work .
And Archive are less fussy about sources and formats and disclaimers ?
