Hi! I am an avid reader and writer. The job that pays the bills is a network engineer for the US Navy. I live in California, and I want to volunteer for LibriVox to learn more about the audiobook game, and, if I'm being honest, to further my experience so I can record my own book within a year. I know there is a lot to learn to be a good reader that isn't boring or inarticulate. I hope to learn.
If anyone wants to read some of my stuff (short stories and my non-fiction book about my time as a pregnant US Marine in Afghanistan in 2010), feel free to check out my blog, www.bambooandbananas.org, which I am using as a way to rough draft my book. I'm always willing to hear others opinions about the book, because I want to reach all demographics about the struggles of PTSD and other issues in the military.
I'm looking forward to this experience! I hope I can find a quiet enough room.
Savannah's Grand Introduction
Welcome, Savannah. Your stories are really great, and although I've only scanned, having just discovered you, I'm looking forward to spending more time with them - you have a wonderful writing voice. My daughter spent 5 years in the Army and another few as a reserve, and my son spent 4 years in the Air Force in a top security job, so I can relate to the subject matter of your book.nannerscan wrote:Hi! I've been reading for Librivox for a little over a year and find it very rewarding, and hope that you will too! The biggest lesson I've learned is simply "don't try too hard." Relax and enjoy the story.

I love to read, AND my employer matches my volunteer hours with a donation to the Internet Archive, flagged to benefit Librivox.org. How cool is that?

Thank you, queenk8!
It's awesome that your two children served. I know my time in the military positively shaped my demeanor and drive for the rest of my life. Thank you for your encouragement!
