I have no experience with this but looking to change that fact.

Reviewing the newbie info to see what area I can start with soonest.

Welcome to LibriVox
We were all new once :D , The welcome email you got suggests a way to go which we've found works for most people - get your settings right via the 1 minute test , read something in a group project so you learn whats needed there with people to help you and so you find out if you like recording and how to finish off the recording and then work out what you want to do here.
