I live in California and I found Librivox looking for ways to contribute my voice to the world. I'm currently finishing up my Masters in Education and enjoy working with children of all ages. I believe this is a great thing to give back and provide something that everything should use. Thank you for inviting me and I look forward to working with you all.
I enjoy reading.

Hi and welcome. We are certainly all children back here, some older than others, playing and telling stories all the time!

The best starting point is submitting a one minute test and the team there will guide you on getting your setup right. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test Not an audition, just a way of making sure your equipment is set up right before you make a big recording. There is no need for an expensive mic... a decent USB mic can be bought for about $20 on Amazon. Of course, you can pay a lot more for a better one, but best to see if you enjoy recording before forking out :D (I use a small hand held data recorder myself and don't record on my computer.)

The videos at the top of this forum are very helpful - Phil does a great job with them. And we have a couple other useful topics stickied above as well.

When you start, it is best to read a chapter or two on established projects or take on a short role in one of our plays (I have been caught up in the plays - see my signature line), but once you are familiar with the site and the process, you can branch out to any Public Domain text that interests you.

Thanks, Todd
