Greetings from an American in Germany
I need to keep my English sharp somehow
Such a lovely project, looking forward to helping out!
Thank you to the volunteers who took the time to make the tutorials, it makes getting started seem a bit less intimidating

Hi and welcome.
The best starting point is submitting a one minute test and the team there will guide you on getting your setup right. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test Not an audition, just a way of making sure your equipment is set up right before you make a big recording. There is no need for an expensive mic... a decent USB mic can be bought for about $20 on Amazon. Of course, you can pay a lot more for a better one, but best to see if you enjoy recording before forking out (I use a small hand held data recorder myself and don't record on my computer.)
The videos are very helpful - Phil does a great job with them.
When you start, it is best to read a chapter or two of established projects or take on a short role in one of our plays (I have been caught up in the plays - see my signature line), but once you are familiar with the site and the process, you can branch out to any Public Domain text that interests you.
Oh, and we do record in other than English if you wish and are more than monolingual!
Thanks, Todd
