Welcome city mate! Holler out if you need any help on how and where to post your 1-minute test to check out whether your recording settings meet our standards.

In case you would like to download the free C H E C K E R app, which shows you if your recording meets LibriVox standards, you can find info in that link I've given you. Find which version of Java you have, 32 bit or 64 bit, and download the corresponding version of Checker. Checker gives you various readings on the mp3 you export, including its volume.

Welcome Mr Science. We thrive on enthusiastic volunteers like you. And we certainly could use more natural science in our catalog. Ask if any thning is confusing, we are a friendly bunch here.

EDIT: I don't know if you are aiming at the more serious stuff but I have a project that deals with the life stories of insectcs "Little Busybodies" that has a bunch of interesting chapters. Yeah, it's aimed at children but still good stuff. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=62861

Thanks Tony! I just submitted a 1-minute test (unfortunately before I saw your message). Thanks for the suggestion! I'll "CHECKER" out! (lil pun).

Also, thanks Phil. I'll think about Little Busybodies. I was originally aiming for more "serious stuff" as you call it (e.g., Alfred Russel Wallace), but am open to other things as well, certainly children's books. ..Oh!...and it's MS. Science, justy FYI.

At the moment, we're a bit short on "serious" stuff, but I can certainly recommend

The 5th volume of the Science History of the Universe, dealing with Biology
or maybe Elements of Geology for the bigger time scales
Or, if you'd like to go a bit more practical, we have our own CSI class running right now, it's by far not so dry as it sounds.

In any case, get that one minute test out of the way first, and then we'll see you there!
