Hey all.

I just thought I'd drop you all a message with some news. I'm very glad that LibriVox has taken off. I attempted a few years ago to do something similar called Open Source Audio Books and nobody could be bothered. But this seems to have hit critical mass.

I've put together, at the request of Adam Curry, an OPML file with the completed books. This OPML file is publicly available so directories can pick them up and use them.

The OPML has already been picked up and included in the IndiePodder (formerly iPodder) directory at http://www.indiepodder.org/directory/4/podcasts/categories/audioBooksByLibrivox

Dave Winer of Scripting News has also included it in his Community Directory:
http://sndirectory.worldoutline.com/LibriVox/

The OPML itself is available at:
http://hosting.opml.org/tommorris/librivox.opml

I'm also reading "On the Genealogy of Morals" by Nietzsche in English. I found a public domain translation. I'm a philosophy student by day, and Nietzsche is one of my specialisms, so it's a good opportunity both for me to re-read Nietzsche and to contribute to LibriVox.

Thanks,
Tom

Wow, thanks, Tom!

Now, what happens when we have new Completed Works?

Basically, currently, I'm reading the RSS feed and grabbing the new completed works from it and adding them to the relevant categories.

If I miss any, the best way is to go to IndiePodder, click the category they should be in and click Suggest a Link. That'll send me an email and I'll drop the new entry in to the file.

Maybe when I've got some more time, I'll write a script that will parse the LibriVox Catalogue page and create the OPML from there.

The other solution is that you replace the Catalogue page with a rendering of the OPML (there are WordPress plugins which do that), and then the same file which serves IndiePodder and the other directories is used.
