Hi all, I'm an Aussie with the accent to match!! So happy to meet this forum, I am a glass bead maker and spend many long hours sitting at a flame melting glass and creating miniature jewels while listening to audio books when I can find them. Hope I can help out with future projects.

I am currently downloading Treasure Island, which has taken many hours to get to 48MB - current download speed 3k/sec - doncha just hate dial-up! One question I do have at the moment is that, with the download, I have also received an .exe file - 1064483.exe to be exact. Is this a legit file from you, or have I managed to attract some weirdo stuff through the connection?

Thanks for any help, cheers, Jenny

Welcome Jenny! It's always great to get a variety of voices and I love an Aussie accent! There's at least one more aussie floating around here somewhere!

hi senny, I'll check that .exe with archive.org folks and our tech/catalog people.

The .exe file is unknown to me -- don't click on it until we find out from archive.org what it is.

Sorry your download is taking so long. Are you downloading the files individually or did you go for the "zip of the entire book". The zip, alas, contains all three file formats, so you'll end up with three copies of every track, plus a useless xml file and maybe some other stuff.... the zip is provided by archive.org so its contents are out of our hands. It might be better to download the file format of your choice track by track, especially since you're on dialup.

Hope you'll be able to read something for us soon -- the Short Poetry Project (in Readers Wanted) is a great place for a new reader to start.

I make snowflake Christmas ornaments with little glass beads! :) Glass-blowing is a fascinating skill. Wish I could watch you work.

Anyway, welcome senny!

Hi,
Dude 3k and it seems you?re not firewalled! Some days ago i reinstalled my girlfriends PC. I installed it and went online, before i updated it and firewalled it. It took me 10 Minutes to update online and install a virus-program/firewall. 10 minutes in which this PC was bare like a newborn. I catched 3 MALICIOUS THINGS in that time, just by beeing online naked for 10 minutes. I forgot about this installment and started anew.

3k will really give you a hard time to get the book. You know what? If you want to give me your adress (private message me!) i will send you a DVD or some CDs full of our books to australia - WITHOUT any trojans, keyloggers or virusses. Hate them!

Anyway, nice you?re here.
Greetings,
Stephan

The file you mention should not have been included in the package. Librivox does not include any executable (.exe) files. I'm not sure where that would have come from, but I would delete it.
