Hi :D

My name is Susan. Sue is also fine. I'm very pleased to be here and look forward to working with you. I reside in Portland Maine, USA and right now we are having a hard time getting into Spring.

I am not entirely new to recorded reading I did some work for the Iris Network which is our states organization for the blind. I used to read on the radio a bit and read the Saturday paper to the residents of the Apartment house they have. They were a great group of people. I'm not the best reader but I am enthusiastic and I work hard.

Enough about me I hope some of you will knock on my door(so to speak) and introduce yourselves to me.

Now I have to get on with that one minute recording for a sound check, I believe.

Best regards,

Sue

Welcome to Librivox, Sue! The Wiki is a great place to start. You’ll find most of the information you’ll need about Librivox there. If not, feel free to ask.

For your sound check, please post to the Listeners & Editors Wanted forum.

Dive right in and have fun!

Jim

Hello, Susan! We welcome you to LibriVox. We're always glad to see new volunteers!

Before you start recording, we ask that you send in a 1-minute test recording. This is not an audition, it's just to make sure the sound quality and the recording settings are all right - often things can be improved at the outset that are difficult to fix later. Please go to this wiki page to find out what to record for your 1-minute test, and how to upload the recording. In the LibriVox Uploader, please select 'tests - tests' from the MC drop-down, and then post your test recording in the Listeners Wanted forum.

If you don't want to record, you can proof listen (PL)! Proof-listening is the process of listening to a recording in order to catch recording mistakes, and verify that the file meets the technical requirements. All recordings are "prooflistened" to catch repeats, big stumbles or long pauses. A Proof-Listener is the volunteer who does the proof-listening, and will report back any errors in the file. Please visit Guide For Proof Listeners for more information. We're always looking for more Proof-Listeners! :)

We hope you have a positive experience here at LibriVox. Please ask if you have any questions at all!
Thank you!

I don't know, Sue, sounds like you're a pretty great reader to me. :) Enthusiasm and hard work makes the best readers. ;) Glad to have you here. :)
