Hi Librivoxers! My name's Andrea. I just discovered Librivox a few days ago (where have you been all my life, Librivox?) and I've been listening to Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey; I'm quite addicted already.

I even pored over the FAQs, installed Audacity the other day and tried my hand at recording something for practice, a little Agatha Christie I was in the middle of reading anyway (I know, not in the public domain). I have a feeling I'll be volunteering for some reading pretty soon here, once I feel like I know the ropes a little bit.

Just wanted to say hi!

Hi Andrea! Delighted to have you, and glad you found us. :)

If you like, you could post a bit (~2 minutes) of your recording you've done so far over in Listeners and Editors Wanted. You'll get quick (and, I'm certain, quite positive) feedback on it.

Looking forward to hearing your voice!

Oh, thanks for the suggestion. I will probably do that. Would it be acceptable to post part of my Agatha Christie recording there, even though it's not public domain? Or should I read from something else?

As it turns out, there are Christie books in the public domain:

The Mysterious Affair at Styles (English)
Secret Adversary (English)

But send what you have, and get a reading. People around here are very helpful and constructive in their advice, I've noted over the last year.

Ahhh be careful with Agatha Christie. It is not PD in Canada, and there are people pursuing that avenue with regard to LibriVox because the founder is in Canada.

Hmm, interesting. Well, I don't want to get involved in a copyright war so I've been playing around with recording a bit of Sherlock Holmes. I'm ready to get a little feedback, but I don't have web space to upload the file. I searched the FAQs and forums and I'm sure I saw something somewhere about this, but I'm at a loss. Where do I put my audio file so people can listen to it?

Thanks for the welcomes and the advice....
